Troutling Tammy
Furious insane worldbuilding inspiration from a fresh new alternate Tam ref drawn by AlienShmalien!
Dambreak Valley used to be a completely submerged city inside a massive freshwater artificial lake and reservoir, the trout and salmonidae population could already largely transform as necessitated by tool use and advanced city society, though they still were obligate aquatics. The city itself developed largely isolated with only small influences from outside species and settlements up until the damn broke and the city almost completely drained away.
Fortunately! No one was stranded long and no one died, but it DID necessitate the entire city adapting to sustained surface travel and coming up with gear solutions to return to relative normalcy. These days it’s a modern canal city where to go anywhere higher than the basin you needed special gear if you weren’t amphibious like a visiting species or catfish, and large parts of the population aren’t! Including Tammy.
Though the Dam breaking DID bring an end to isolation, now you have stream runners and wayfarers moving out and bringing stuff back from other settlements, AND as it turns out, Dambreak land gear is readily compatible with turf war gear with only moderate modification and some water thickeners! So some troutlings have been moving out into the inkling cities and trying their fins at combat!
Tammy also part times at grizzco for a little extra change, as the salmonids that still “run” are seen as dangerous overpopulation of “mad salmon” to her for the most part. (Rationalizing how salmon runs might still exist)
I hope you all like Splatoon! Tammy, and my brief dip into potential freshwater species inclusion, I like to imagine the Dambreak disaster was somewhere between 2 and 3, supporting the wider variety of proper fish anthro species present in the third game.

It’s only either or! It moves with the transformation! Her head would have been to busy trying to keep them in the same place under the jaw so she just gets LONGE, if you notice her pectoral clawed fins become her feets! So she kinda stretches out when in lander form! Basically it’s like all of the biped evolutionary path happens in a second!
