I'm getting ready to publish the complete run of "Kitz 'n' Katz" by Bob Laughlin in the coming months. A fun indie comic from the 1980s that deserves more love.
It's a surrealist strip about two cats named Kitz and Katz. Nobody knows which one is Kitz and which one is Katz, especially these two. The vibe is very "Krazy Kat" inspired (Bob Laughlin was a huge fan of the strip)
Laughlin, who worked on "Heathcliff" as an inker and letter, tried to get this strip picked up for syndication but were unable to. Instead it ran in The Comics Buyer's Guide from 1981 to 1985, followed by a six issue comic book that ran until 1987, during the black and white boom.
The book collects all the strips, plus the comic book issues, into one. I also included bonus materials such as an introduction by Patrick McDonnell ("Mutts"), a sampling of Bob's lone syndicated strip "Cuffy", and more.
Looking forward to releasing this book!
