I said GAT RAT not gyat rat... though... she do got some gyat...
Anyhow I've just replied to
Katfeathers regarding version 4.4 of Blender causing rigs to hang or crash when trying to use EEVEE settings for quick image exports. Mine hung too, so I just did this with cycles instead.
Important note~ This is NOT a new model of Yuki but a simple import from sketchup to learn a bit about Tri-faces to Quads conversions, which sketchup seems to love making everything... I mean everything as triangles. Not much a problem when working natively in SKP for SKP models but just try to export something and then import that into Blender, and you end up with a whole mess of duplicate verticies that really funk around with your mesh topology and the colors linked to said meshes.... annoying... but luckily there's an option to merge verticies very close to each other into a unified poly mesh that solves the color and texture problems!
I'm also very surprised modern Blender-4 still talks to sketchup and cooperates. xD
This experiment was a win, even though as a whole, it's a loss since there's too many issues with my skp model to bother working with it... other than removing the duplicate items and rough cleaning up of the model. It's far easier just to use this as a handy reference and box model a whole new rat for myself.
I will say this however... Blender is LOADS better at coloring than sketchup, but then again SKP only has a simple cartoon shader engine whereas Blender has full on color management, and speculative shines and reflections built in.
This is what's called a Matte finish render, no shines, very cartoon like just like SKP, but again, the colors.... OM*G is it GOOD!
Also if everything here looks smooth as butter, it IS! Blender gives us the option of smoothing out the polygons in RENDER as opposed to in editor to make things faster while modeling, and the only way to get smoother surfaces in skp is to well... double down on the polygon count and hope you got the RAM for that... or wait for windows to chuck everything into scratch and work with your model as it can... and hopefully not hang... which it did while doing the EEVEE render that you will never see because it hung so badly....
Anyhoo a quick successful test. Fail model, but a good learning session!

Thanks RJ! =D
And let's see what I can do with a fully blender made model. I've got so many options I never had in sketchup, that I might go a bit overboard with details. xD Like the whiskers you pointed out... only... more of them. Oh and hair... wow some real hair OMG!
