Yeah most likely has to do with me being from germany... when I was younger, we did not have to much in the way of US comics...
Sure we had Mickey Mouse and what we call LTB / Lustige Taschenbücher which was more or less ducktales in comic-book format...
But there was not a big market for comics like Superman or Batman and the like...
we had Asterix, Umpah pa, Rin Tin Tin, Spirou&Fantasio, Clever & Smart, and a whole buttload of others...
I simply grew up with them and love 'em to this day...
