I totally understand that. I grew up around English Mastiffs throughout my childhood, and we encountered the same problems.

They're such (huge!) beautiful doggies. Probably third on my favourite dogs list . . . only losing to labs and cresties.

Danes are probably one of my favorites, too, along with the Irish Wolfhound, Ibizan Hound and Australian Cattle Dog. (Big dogs are my looooveeee <3)

Wolfhounds are huuuuge. But I've heard they have wonderful personalities. Is it true?

Unfortunately, I've never owned one. But I have friends who work with them (dog shows) and they say they are WONDERFUL dogs. They also live longer than Danes, which is really nice. One day, I'd love to own one. (I just have to convince my fiance to get one with me haha He likes small dogs.)

The only dog I've had the pleasure of owning is the Australian Cattle Dog. :)

Ouch . . . good luck with trying to convince in the pet area. I got lucky getting together with Vari. I swear someday we're going to run a small zoo, out of our home that is.

I had a black lab, female, a few years back. She was a wonderful puppy, playful but not harmful or destructive, so friendly and loyal . . . she was the first and probably last one I'll ever take care of. I'm more of a cat boy and they seem to love me, they just keep falling into my life. But, anyway, she jumped the fence and a car took her life. She died in my cousin's arms . . . it was completely tragic. So now all I keep are critters I can keep indoors. I kind of swore to myself that was never going to happen again. Or, at the very least I'd do everything in my power to keep it from happening again. ._.

;_; Omg I'm so sorry. That's really sad. Don't let one bad incident stop you from owning an animal though.
My dad used to have a Pomeranian and she, unfortunately, met a similar fate. :(

I love cats. I'm definitely more of a crazy cat lady than a dog person. I can't have one, though, because my dog isn't too fond of cats. XD I plan on owning a couple once I move out.

Oh I didn't! Ahahah. I (well, Vari and I) have six cats (two are kittens we rescued recently, one is on my lap right now), two sugar gliders, two rats, and three fish tanks. See? Total zoo.

I'm just keeping indoor animals now. ;]

. . . a similar . . . I don't even know how people can live with themselves, doing that. I'd go to pieces if I hit someone. I almost have and just the thought of that. x_x
Pommies are adorable little things.

So many people around here have dogs. There's actually a family that lives across from us that, well, to be frank, they're making us pretty upset right now. They have an adorable puppy that they're mistreating, leaving outside during the day (we live near New Orleans so you can imagine), not keeping up with its water, not giving it proper shade . . . I think it's female, but I'm not sure. I haven't gotten to see him/her up close.

I'm not really sure what to do. Calling animal control might help, but . . . what if they kill her/him?
