I was wondering what song to place in that spot (originally it had Karn Evil 9 as a placeholder just because the thought of that is funny to me) and I was surprised to see wooly bully on a list of most-covered songs. I always knew *I* hated it but I didn't guess how many other people liked it enough to produce their own imitation of.
the point was to use an overexposed overrated song and while i SPORADICALLY heard the radio version in the 1990s I have never seen it in a superlative list or obnoxious social media post, and it is too eccentric to be widely covered by other bands. I also don't HATE it but I also might not appreciate it in the intended manner.
I suppose to have it used in the picture would make the speaker seem extra insane, but it wouldn't be based on the actual insane people's behaviour that motivated me to make this.

I like you even more now - Karn Evil 9 is one of my fave songs. Brain Salad Surgery is in my collection. A defunct rock music station introduced me to the CD because they would often play the edited version of the song,but, their saving grace was The Classic Disc At Midnight and the short-lived Heavy Metal segments that were hosted by two of the DJ's, but I still miss the House Of Hair that was hosted by Dee Snider on a different rock station.
I listen to whatever I want to. I have music discs that need to be buffed to where they don't skip on my favorite songs. My Dad uploaded a bunch of his songs that he listens to into my phone because he says that what is played on the radio sucks. I have to disagree to some extent, but, the playlists are often 'self-repeating', so I can see his side of things.
YouTube and alternative music radio stations are also decent boons. (Except, when the songs on the former are slapped with copyright infringement crap and removed, then ick.)

If I like something, I save it to my hard drive. I don't trust anyone else to keep it around, music or otherwise. Perhaps I am fortunate to have that option! But I need one for everything else I do anyway. I was also fortunate to locate and grab a large quantity of particular material before megaupload was shut down. Saving off of youtube is irritating and the owners continually try and make it more difficult but there is always a way.
I tell myself what music to like.

I've got some bands and stuff I listen to sure, but depends heavily on my mood. Sometimes want to join the black parade, other times I cannot stand gothic whiney punk rock music. Sometimes its GWAR other times is a weird guy with an accordian.

Because you listen to PINECONE MUSIC (PNCN 101 on the FM dial) You'll NEVER go wrong.
Seriously I would KILL to get a music player shaped like a pinecone. That would be the ULTIMATE

As for the illustration once again I LOVE your color usages and neat little snake characters. It's astounding how much emotion and pain you can give those little guys especially the one obsessed with Johnny Cash(a worthy icon to worship but dude...chill!)! :D

My tastes, with only a handful of exceptions, go by individual song and not by artist. You'll never find me gatekeeping music. Listen to what you enjoy. If I don't enjoy the same music, I'll go listen to mine.

I also have to judge by item. Liking a genre or "type" is impossible for me, though i definitely come close to hating some genres and definitely plenty of specific musicians. i wrote "video game music" but even that is not the video game music anyone else ever seems to want or expect me to like.
I do not know that anyone outwardly takes issue but when they try to suggest material to me I feel like i owe them responses and it feels rude to continually not be positive. I made a discord server in part so people could share at the server rather than ME specifically but it didn't improve the situation as much as I had hoped, though it did a LITTLE bit.
