Page 3 : The Legionary
The Imperial Legions are a very special part of the Forest Breeder Empire's armed forces. For starter, they have a high degree of independance from any other branches. They have their own ships, their own equipment and sometimes, their own rules. This allows them to plan and execute their own operations if they wish to.
A member of a Legion is of course called a Legionary. These Breeders are all without exception males that underwent the ritual to become what is most often refereed as an "Enhanced Breeder". This means that they have attained total mastery over the body enhancements that the Forest Breeder ink-magic can provide. The result is a Breeder towering high above his average kin, with a legendary amount of strength and endurance as well as an extreme resilience to bodily harm.
Enhanced Breeders are almost always expected to join a Legion upon reaching their new status. There they would take upon the combat role of shock troops, heavy infantry. Some would even come to call them walking tanks.
Ever since their creations, the Imperial Legions quickly rose in fame and as they became more and more independant from the other military branches, so did their equipment become more different.
Confident in the highly resistant body that they obtained from their enhancements tattoos, the Legionaries tend to wear little to no armor, either in an effort to inspire awe to their allies, or fear to their enemies. They do however developed a fondness for wearing several pieces of decorative armor, often over a limb or two. This allows for the placement of critical high-tech equipments that will assist the Legionary in battle.
The "bubble" energy shield generator, located over their spine, has become a mandatory part of their gear. And more Legionaries are starting to adopt the combat bracers that are able to tap into the shield generator's power-source in order to create small forearm shields or blades.
The majority of Legionaries however, hot-headed as they are, are still for now rejecting the idea of a full-body armor and a variety of high-tech armament, arguing that : "Little shiny toys are to be given to the Skirmishers, whenever they're done dressing up."
Despite this initial resistance, it is still rumored that an experimental new suit of armor is being tested within the Forest Breeder Department of New Technologies, to be proposed to the Legions.
