Another of those realistic watercolors copied from photographs (in this case, a picture I found in some fashion catalogue.) As per usual, the scanner seriously washed out the colors. Dunno what it is about watercolors that the scanner dislikes so.

My scanner is great at picking up the (not very thoroughly) erased pencil lines but not the ink. Sometimes it goes so far as to catch an erased pencil line on the reverse side of the paper but miss the ink line I am trying to scan.
I got one of those blue pencils that the scanner is supposed to not pick up at all.
Ha ha ha ha.
I am putting it down to my being technically challenged. In the case of the watercolours I think it's the bright scanner lamp. It just completely washes them out. Not sure what to do about it though.

I've had slightly better luck lighting my paintings well and having my husband photograph them, or having him use the fancy shmancy hi-rez scanner he bought for his photography. My little HP scanner just eats all the bright tones and subtlety when I scan my watercolors.
