Starlight and Fur (Anthrocon 2011 Iron Author story)
This here is my story submission for the Iron Author competition at Anthrocon 2011.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Iron Author, the goal is to write the worst story possible. But it's more than just churning out a bad story: there are themes and elements that you have to incorporate, which don't get revealed until the convention itself. You generally have about a day and change to write a story and submit it for judging, with the "winners" getting read to the crowd on the last day.
It's a lot of fun. I try to take part every year.
This year, the instructions were to take a beloved magical fantasy setting and ruin it with inappropriate character insertion. My story here earned "Dishonorable Mention"!
And since misery shared is misery spared, here it is for all of you to, um, "enjoy."
