Never Stop Fighting - International Women's Day
March 8th.
It might not seem like it, but I have always been a feminist, and there's many reasons behind that.
Not only I've had to learn a lot of what women have to live with day by day once I started socially transitioning, I also have seen so many times how toxic behaviors have hurt many of my friends, relatives... even my mother and my sister.
Many of those behaviors come from misinformation: from the wrong thought of Feminism trying to "erradicate all men", to even the idea that feminism shouldn't include trans women... all of those are things that aren't real.
Women have fought for centuries to get a little bit of the rights that men have been receiving since they were born. Mexico is one of the countries that's way behind in terms of gender equality and feminism, and it's population has been fighting not only for the women who have gone missing as victims of crimes, we also fight to abolish invasive and unreasonable restrictions, to make every women's rights into a reality, just as much as men's rights are recognized.
As a transgender woman, learning what my cisgender women friends have gone through in their lives is heartbreaking, it's a reality that many of us tend to either ignore by accident or just... be completely unaware of it; as well as learning that's the new reality we introduce ourselves into by transitioning, it just makes it even scarier.
Heck, even in my classes I've learned that men suffer from these issues too! Being emotionally neglected, forced to hide any human emotion... both sides suffer in different ways.
But like I've said before, today's about the women who have been fighting for centuries so we can stand here and have our lives. The fight is not over, and we must continue their legacy.
So please, anyone who reads this, keep fighting for women.
Doesn't matter the gender you are, remember, women have always been part of our lives: mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, doctors...
It's time for us to make a brighter future.
