Putting the rainbow into Rainbow Boa
I finally got a shot that shows some halfway decent iridescence. I still need to get her out in sunlight someday, but for now this will do. :)

They're not very hard to get, no. Price, a good one runs around $200, give or take a bit, though you can get Columbians, which are more brown and less strikingly marked, cheaper. They still have the rainbow though. As for care, they're considered medium difficulty. You need to keep their enclosure humid, is the main problem. Well, and also they're nippy. I've been bitten three or four times so far, even being fairly careful. They should grow out of it if handled regularly, but it can be a problem.
actually, they typically get much larger than ball pythons.
from the Wikipedia page about ball pythons:
Adults generally do not grow to more than 90–120 cm (3.0–3.9 ft) in length, although some specimens have reached 152 cm and even 182 cm (5–6 feet), but this is very rare.
rainbow boas typically grow to be anywhere between 5-7 feet in length. ;) significantly larger than a ball python.
