Elpis was born as Elvira Pisciotti, one of several daughters of the notorious Pisciotti crime family. In the 1970s, the Pisciotti family practically ruled New York.
Elvira was an accountant, simple, small, unassuming to look at. But all her sisters, mother, and close female family friends were decked out, larger than life with gigantic breast implants, expensive hair, manicures, skin treatments, and loads upon loads of business savvy and brutal violence they could employ on a whim.
Elvira wanted to be just like them.
But, when DD Sovereign, otherwise known as the god Tyr, gave up his divinity to live as a mortal, his divinity and guardian spirit Lemnaul left to seek a new vessel. And that divinity chose Elvira.
Overnight, Elvira had been changed from a 22-year-old tiny human girl into a snow leopard woman, and was quickly increasing in size, muscle and power.
And while her family kept Elpis out of the public for fear of causing a panic, Elpis was dead set on making herself out to be just like the women she idolized.
She wouldn't get the chance in the modern day though. She was approached by DD Sovereign who told her that the other gods were asleep, not due to awake for many, many hundreds of years.
If Elpis wanted to strut her stuff amongst other Divinity, and she did, then she would need to go to sleep like the rest and await the Haelyn Trigger.
Over a thousand years later, Elpis wakes up and immediately sets out to stake a claim in the new world. Earth had opened a gateway to Ketnar, its magical other dimension, and Elpis sought to make a name for herself and reestablish the Pisciotti family, now as a divine family. A Goddess of Thieves.
She would meet Shelly and fall in love as a partner in crime, but the two were routinely defeated by Eibon and her wives.
Despite that, she never begrudged Eibon, and felt respect. After all, she and Eibon were both plucked from the same century.
Elpis eventually set her sights on a great ambition when efforts began to settle the Savage Continent. Multiple invested parties were making a push, including Watchtower's Victory Frontier.
Elpis, and her gang, would financially contribute to the settlement efforts in exchange for a piece of land to settle into a city of her own.
She founded Imperia, the City of Thieves. A places were criminals and outcasts could live free of police.
She and Shelly would even try to start a family.
However, the idea was flawed.
It wasn't just the thieves, drug pushers, prostitutes and pimps, and other Petty criminals that were setting up shop. It was also the reprehensible types. Murderers, rapists, and worse. The kind of people that even the mafia wouldn't want to associate with.
Something needed to be done, but what to do? If she set up a police force to get rid of these people, she would only be undoing the entire point of the city.
And while she thought on it, the city was beginning to fall apart.
A lack of law enforcement led to disorganization, and any attempts to establish law were met with protest.
And as the city fell apart, Shelly left. Leaving Elpis with an infant daughter and a city on the verge of collapse.
She had to make a choice, prioritize her daughter, or try to save the city. It was obvious she couldn't do both.
She ultimately chose to give her daughter to her once sworn enemy, Eibon.
But despite this, it was too late. The city couldn't be saved, and riots as well as the abandonment of her investors left the city in ruins. The dream was dead.
And by the time she realized her mistake, it was too late to try and be a mother. Her daughter was now a teenager and almost an adult.
She would try to get involved in her daughter's life, introducing her to her Divinity, and trying to win favor buying her daughter her first implants.
And while it worked in the short term, the media was busy painting Elpis as a comical figure, a dumb bimbo and a colossal failure.
Even her own daughter began to believe it.
After the city, she tried to get work elsewhere but no one would hire her with how she looked. No one wanted to hire a huge overly busty bimbo with obviously fake breasts bigger than her head. Not to mention, her reputation.
And so, in shame, she gave up her Divinity.
While she still had her snow leopard features, she was no longer huge, she was no longer super busty, her hair was no longer huge and expensive, if anything, she looked plain.
She was able to get a job now at least. As a waitress, in a random diner in the middle of nowhere.
But a spark of that Divinity remained within her. A spark that Grimm Dugan Hollingberry, Eibon's granddaughter, would see and fall in love for. Grimm began to pull Elpis out of the mire of her despair, and even encouraged Elpis to join the very same superhero agency she once battled, Watchtower. She would be reborn as the hero Golden Silver.
However, the time came that Elpis's daughter would find herself in peril. The ambitions of the ghost of a long dead Hungarian conqueror, Vultrogotha Humboldt Von Swartzvald, would result in a rift being opened to Ghost World. And from this rift, the ghost of Raijin, the Japanese Thunder God, would blast out, seeking a new vessel.
Ottoline, Elpis's daughter, was that vessel. The possession turned Ottoline into the villain Powermonger, and her rampage along with the actions of the suicidally devoted and god-slaying IGNEOUS organization made for enough of a distraction to allow Vultrogotha every opportunity she needed to pull the strings of Britannia Nova's queen.
Elpis rose up to the challenge.
She was going to save her daughter, come hell or high water.
