for two years in a row now I've made the solo drive out to Boyce Thompson Arboretum on 11/11 to do plant/landscape studies and be alone with my thoughts for a day, and in 2024 it was definitely needed. the first time I brought markers; this time I brought gouache and spent a couple hours painting the lake before hiking the full length of the park. wish I had brought a smaller brush for those foreground reeds but oh well, it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back.

if you are ever in central arizona BTA is a must visit. if it's this or the Desert Botanical Garden and you can only pick one, it aint even a contest
