Having actually seen some of my client's canes, my Tai Ch'i instructor's comments made me realize that they are much curvier than I had originally imagined.
I then understood why the client wanted only one snake - not to avoid the connotation of the cadeuceus, but instead the cane is curvy enough to take the place of the second snake.
The client will receive 8 business cards to choose from on Saturday: 4 different fonts with this design, and the same 4 fonts with the previous design.
