I should have left well enough alone, but I had to get a closer look at the suspicious deer head, I just had to decide to gaze into its empty eyes. But as I gleaned closer, I lost my balance and bumped into the wall, knocking it loose. The deer head fell from the mounting and onto my head and shoulders! I tried and tried to pull the dead- thing off, only to find it’s strangely hollow and that I could breathe just fine despite all my panic. But the more I raged to remove it, the tighter it binds! As I pawed at the mount, I came to the grim and quite horrific realization the deer pelt was fusing to me!
My face melded into the cervine muzzle and I could see through the eyes, finally free from the darkness, and able to move the mouth and feel it’s… …My antlers. Then the body changes came.
I started to bulk out - this was a castle of monsters, after all! The pelt rushing to cover my body, replacing human flesh with the deer-hide of the forest. My feet changed and became split hooves, and a tail flares up behind me. I feel the rage of the forest build within me, demanding escape and revenge for the two lives destroyed to make me. I have become, the DEER HAUNTER! Drawn by:
