I feel the next step to speed up my art is to push for more simplified forms like actual cartoons! So, today I spent some time analysing cartoons for the golden ratio. The golden ratio turns up in Preston Blair's work A LOT, which doesn't really surprise me. Also, it hit me that Ken Akamatsu's art uses the same basic principles as western cartoons! Except he uses speed lines instead of contortion to convey action.
And unsurprisingly enough, Akamatsu's work and Blair's work have similar patterns of the golden ratio. This was one of my studies I did attempting to emulate those patterns.
