For my weekly art I wanted to try out the chibi art style. So I made Cantaloupe the Jackalope. Horned hares have been in illustrations since at least the 13th century, and in stories for much longer, but by the 18th century scientists started rejecting the existence of Jackalopes like Cantaloupe! Cantaloupe politely asks that you not ignore her species. They might not be able to burn down forests, but they can mimic any sound or voice. At night she loves to harmonize along with campers singing by the fireside. During the day she frolics through her Cantaloupe patch looking for a ripe one!
Art wise, drawing a chibi was more difficult than I thought it would be. I realized that I need to have a much steadier hand for cleaner crisper lines for this art style. The sketchier lines I had been getting away with didn't work as well with this. This also took me longer than I would have liked to get a something I was okay with. I think I am more comfortable with heads and less with full body portraits. Maybe I should practice anatomy drawings?
