Dragon Transformation Test Animation - Shape Key, Shrink-wra
I've been experimenting with dragon transformation blend using my human and dragon character that i've spent a ton of time on. This uses a similar technique that I did with the raptor tf last year, relying on shapekeys and the shrink wrap modifier. This in addition uses texture animations and two models that blend into each over in addition to animating the rigs and taking the shapekeys in consideration. It came out much better and less stiff then the Raptor TF

For an animation I spent three hours on, It came out good but there are things I like figure out.
1.incorporating fabric into the tf that rips along with the transformation. I haven't done much on fabrics in blender with the exception of making them for VRM models which is a different beast all together.
2. I would like more control on the textures and change them to different ones as the sequence. I think I will have to do it in the shading tab setting up the textures via the nodes.
3.The animation is janky in some spots but that's just a me issue. Hopefully I will improve the more I do of these.

Transformation is hard to do in 3D. Most people I see do close ups of different things then show the final form. I feel like having him fall down fast then have his back legs drag back as he gets bigger might have worked better then the hop. With something like this you might have needed a middle stage modle too.
