Zhentahl, loosely based on Hebrew and Chinese words for 'void' and 'pearl' because someone suggested D&D's Celestial would have traits of both [shrug]
Her powers and personality are based on Solar Dragons from D&D, and parts of her appearance do indeed resemble those more eastern-styled dragons!

AS A SOLAR DRAGON
Zhentahl was once a vibrant Solar Dragon living in the void of wildspace. An accomplished magic user, she devised new spells that aided her in surviving out there, but one thing in particular that she worked on took well over a century to complete. She wanted to create her own star. To figure out how it happened, and recreate those conditions at her own whims. She was successful at her attempt, but so taken with her creation was she that she felt a kinship with this star of hers. Perhaps even kinship was not strong enough--she felt like a mother to it. She knew it wasn't truly alive, though. As she gazed upon it, she wondered if she could not connect her own life to it? The seemingly infinite power of her sun--her child--could sustain her, and in so doing she could tell herself that it was, itself, alive.
Many years later, she devised this spell too, and prospered greatly. Her magics had never felt stronger, her scales had never been more vibrant, and it just felt right to share her life with her own creation.
ALL GOOD THINGS...
It all came crashing down, though, when a rival Lunar Dragon got jealous of this star so close to its borders. Years of plotting later, and the dragon finally had their chance to snuff out Zhentahl's flame. Except... it didn't kill her. It changed her, certainly--her scales blackened like the void with only the suggestion of colour at the tips of her feathers--but she lived on. She was no longer a Solar Dragon, she was now the Eclipse Dragon. But she could no longer bear the thought of living life in the void, seeing other stars that would always pale in comparison to hers. Since then she's begun to travel the worlds. She finds it a little hard to form relationships, but watch out if you manage it! She can be rather motherly.
