A cat as black as blackest coal is out upon her midnight stroll…
I’d like everyone to meet Nyx! A femme fatale in every sense of the word, Nyx was a part of the Black Cat Squadron from its inception in 1961 to its disbandment in 1974. She still has the squadron’s emblem painted on her shoulder in memory of the sisters she lost and refuses to have it removed.
Nyx may be an old girl, but she is still just as sharp and lively as she was in her earlier years. She likes to bend/break rules in harmless ways (as seen in this image), playfully using the excuse of “I’m old!” when she’s called out.
Though Nyx looks forward to her retirement in 2026, she is savoring her final year in the Air Force. When she retires, she hopes to move out to the army base where her long-time partner, Val Sikorsky, a UH-60M Blackhawk heliomorph, is stationed so they can finally live together after all these years.
