Would you believe I've been working on THIS drawing since December of 2024? Ever since the initial drawing of my snep boy Frost in Egg Assault-style RPG sprites, going from resistance hero to Egg Boss (seen here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/57853555/) I've been wanting to expand more on the alt. timeline where he became another of Doc Eggman's lackeys ruling over West Cape City. Doing that 'Returners RIOT!!' series of sprite comms only intensified the interest, and since
ChaosCroc has discussed his ideas for a sequel game to the original Egg Assault that all of this sprang from, Iii figured it'd be fun to design a mockup of what such a game could look like.
Admittedly, I'm not really a game designer, but I do enjoys topics of UI and layout. A 3:4 or 4:7 ratio might'a been better to replicate the SNES rpgs used as inspiration for the format, but I've spent too long arranging this background to go back...
Some of you might be wondering, "What the heck is Egg Assault?". Well, it's a very cool (and free!) game made in RPGMaker VXAce RTP, where Croc and other OC friends of his participate in turn-based battle against various Eggman creations, & you try to keep a party of 3 from being hypnotized, bound, or otherwise corrupted into servants of the mad Doctor. Returners RIOT was my spinoff title of that concept, used for selling art made in that format, such as the idea for a boss battle with the corrupted Frost you see here.
Egg Boss Frostbite would be an optional boss battle in Returners RIOT!!, fought in the version of West Cape City he's turned into a film noir-style hub for Eggman. He begins the fight by summoning 2 Icemen and 1 Frost Drone Pod enemies, each one having a 33% chance to Stand-in for an attack that would target their Boss & take the damage instead. Most turns after that, Frostbite will use moves resembling his playable counterpart (cryokinetic single-target or multi-target damage has a chance to inflict the 'Frozen' status*, balanced ATK and DEF stats), albeit with the electromagnetic 'Haymaker' attack replacing his Chaos energy 'Rage Buster' single-target blow. Less damage, but has a chance to Stun a party member and render them unable to attack for a turn. Every 7 turns, if Frostbite has fewer than 2 minions on the field, he'll summon 3 new minions to replace the ones he lost.**
Icemen: Surly enforcers of the law in Boss Frostbite's territory, they're distinguished by their silvery-white, icy-blue outfits & red ties. (Wearing all dark-blue is forbidden, as a show of deference to the Boss.) They come in either 'Bruiser' polar bear varieties w/ more HP and Attack but less accuracy or 'Gunner' wolf varieties w/ more frail defenses but a high chance of firing Disabling Rounds that reduce Evasion or a Freeze Ray likely to Freeze* the opponent.
(Iceman-Bruisers are prone to counterattacking with a Haymaker if they lose 1/2 their HP in one turn, while Iceman-Gunners are most likely to fire a Freeze Ray if they're in critical condition.)
Holiday Helper: Cigar girl-inspired service ladies who ordinarily staff Ma Holiday's Yuletide Lounge, but they're happy to assist the Boss in quelling the player characters' resistance too. Helpers are even more frail than Iceman-Gunners, but their "Perfume Sample" skill (sourced from Starlet!Hongcha's chemical research) can cause nasty Hypnosis on player characters & their "Refreshments" skill helps other enemies recover HP or from the 'stun' condition. It's usually advised to take them out first, though be advised that Boss Frostbite is more likely to summon them in droves when he's at low health.
Frost-Drone Pod: Familiar-looking drone pods used by many in Dr. Eggman's empire, they've been given a fresh coat of paint to be closer associated with the young snow leopard. Apart from a Freeze Ray attack added to their repertoire alongside Disabling Rounds & rubbery binding bandages, they behave more or less like regular Egg Drone Pods, intent on capturing & converting player characters to loyal Egg-Frost enemy units.
*Frozen is a status similar to how it works in Pokemon; completely immobilizing a party member or enemy until they're thawed out. Attacking the target with a standard Attack will deal half damage, but has a 50% chance to break them out of the Frozen status.
**If Frostbite is between 75%-100% HP, he's more likely to summon Icemen and/or Frost-Drone Pods; between 75% and 25% HP, Frost-Drone Pods are more common, and at 25% HP or less, he'll consistently summon Holiday Helpers & Icemen to Stand-in for attacks.

Whoof, this was a long project to write out. But as one I've had in my head for a while, I had a lot of fun working out the details & I hope you all enjoy learning about this Egg Boss-ified version of my main mobian OC! I'm sure he'll be making other appearances in the future~
And thanks to
FlashpointGear, GorgonSofia on BSKY and wheatles on Discord for letting me use your OCs with this project!
