Arume: I always love story time with you Grandpa, I wish it never had to end.
Grandpa: Me too sweetling, me too. But it is getting late, I think it's about time we head off to bed.
A: Grandpa?
G: Yes dear?
A: How come there are some books that you never read to me, like that one right there?
(Arume's Grandpa turns his head to look at where she is pointing.)
G: Well dear... What!? Ohh, uhh haha, y-you mean this big one here? Oh, I'm afraid it's just too long for story time.
A: No, the one on the top shelf. It's the only book there. You never pick that one.
G: Oh, uhhah, ummm, you can see that one then?
A: Is it a diary, is that why you won't let me read it? Why do you keep your diary with your other books? Why don't you hide it away? My mom hides her diary, but I know where it is, it's under the-
G: Oh ho ho, whoa there child, aand no no no, it's no diary of mine. But I keep it there just in case anyone else might happen to notice it.
A: Of course I notice it Grandpa, it's not like the other books. It looks like someone made it themselves. Like you or me did it, and not a bookstore person, or the grumpy library lady.
G: Exactly dear. It's not like the other books. And there are plenty more where that came from...
(Grandpa looks at Arume and contemplates for a minute before continuing.)
G: I can see it in your eyes, you are ready.
A: Whatcha mean Gran-pa?
G: I've been waiting for someone to see this book for a long time.
G: Now darling, what does the cover say? Oh, here, let me brush off the dust first.
A: It - it says Dust. Haha, that's a funny one Grandpa!
G: Right! Okay then. Now you hold onto this one. It's kind of "boring", but you might need it to help you understand the other books. (He says while reaching for other unread stories.)
A: Wow, thank you Grandpa!
G: Now, where should we start? Oh, and by the way, these stories might seem similar to the other ones I have read to you, but they aren't just stories. These are Fairytales.
A: What's the difference Grampy? I thought you read me fairytales all the time.
G: Well sweetheart... (He says with a proud and comfortable smile.) Since you are a Fairy yourself, I think you'll begin to understand soon enough.
And when story time was over, and Arume was tucked in to bed, she kept her book close by: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/11080966
