When resources end up becoming Scarce, every single piece of Supply, regardless of type, becomes far more valuable. Ingredients that could create an exotic meal are considered wasteful compared to an abundance of rations with the same cost. Manufactured Materials become as rarer than even the minerals they are made with and the decision to use them becomes far more decisive.

Such was the case for those stranded on Planet 4546B. For while Food and Drinking Water thankfully could be harvested and prepared in relative abundance, the more complex machinery and technology needed to extend their range beyond their shelters were another story. Thankfully, the blueprints to some of the smaller, simpler devices were saved to their Fabrication Modules but with a whole new planet of resources they were building these gadgets from, the concern of material quality wasn't an unjustified thought. Nobody wanted to be wearing a SCUBA tank that would crack under pressure or use batteries that would overheat, let alone in a scenario when they were the difference between life and death.

This in mind, these Survivors took to thoroughly testing these Devices to ensure they would hold up under the strain of regular use. Once a few calibrations were made to the Fabricators to compensate for Detected Defects, subsequent technology produced often proved far more reliable. Such tests would continue regardless, though it wasn't long before they became part of games here and there, including Races through what has been recorded by Security Chief D. Hooves as "Seaglide Speedway."

For all the focus of Testing and Repair such Trials were initially for, it's surprising how well a friendly race through the winding course of a coral reef did to maintain the one thing that needed upkeep more than anything; Spirit.
