For those who have been wondering what I've been doing when it comes to artwork... The answer is, a lot. This is yet another book of mine, and between the book cover and the interior, it was 25 illustrations. I'm only going to show a few of them, and those are the ones available in the ebook samples.
I went with black and white/grayscale for all the interior images since it's going into paperbacks and kindles, which don't benefit much from color. Digital coloring otherwise, and with my usual sort of anime/Americana hybrid style. I just generally like drawing comics without too much commitment, so once per chapter works for me, and that's more or less on brand for either a Japanese light novel or a middle grade piece of fiction with illustrations.
Opening image is for Chapter 1 - Falling, where our main character Ruta is literally dumped into the set piece. Speed lines! It's maybe the more dynamic pose, but one of the most boring on backgrounds.
