An pic of my God of the Seas, Mateo DelMar, from my upcoming graphic novel (Avalon). In creating the character, I drew inspiration from classical mythology, alongside textures and themes commonly associated with the ocean.
Decided to improve upon the original by breaking up the monotone blue a bit and coloring in the shell segments-brown was a boring color, so I went with reddish orange. I still need to fix the legs, but that will need to wait for when my artists aren't on vacation!

My goal isn't to make it to television-Avalon is too complex and deeply written (and the effects would cost waaaay too much) for TV to serve as an effective medium.
Then again, I've been surprised by what TV can do before...but it's a cutthroat industry where story matters less than ratings, and that just doesn't jive well with my creative integrity.
