After a lengthy journey, Ash has finally reached his new apartment. He breathes a sigh of relief as he shuts the door behind him. His mind's still buzzing after everything he's been through today, but for now he's got a reprieve from the anxieties of public interaction at least.
Looking around at the empty apartment, rooms are bare bones, save for a beaten looking mattress on a metal frame in the single bedroom. Ash was unable to bring any form of furniture with him in his haste, nothing but the shirt on his back and whatever he could carry in his small backpack. So he's thankful the previous tenant left something for him to sleep on at the very least. The place could certainly use some work. It's the cheapest he could find in this area, and it's apparent why. Still, it's a roof over his head, and that's what matters.
Ash tosses his bag onto the bed and walks over to the window sill taking a seat, his legs aching after hours of walking and riding the subway standing. He peels off his now wet boots, realizing too late that he's tracked in snow all over the wood floor, the snow prints already melting into small puddles. Ash has been through too much today to care too much though, simply sighing as he kicks up his bare paws and turns his body to look out the window. Ash takes in the sight of the street his apartment overlooks, the small businesses across the street and the occasional pedestrian walking on the sidewalk a few stories below him. Being a small town, this area isn't quite as busy as the city he passed through to get here, Ash certainly doesn't mind that.
The scenery distracts him from his own thoughts for a while, before his thoughts once again begin racing. He's gotten this far...now what? First months rent is already paid off on the apartment, but with the little savings he has rent is sure to catch up with him. If he wants to keep up with payments he'll have to find a new job soon.
That's something he'll have to worry about tomorrow, for right now he's exhausted both physically and mentally. Ash looks over to the beaten up mattress. Despite it's rough condition, it's an inviting sight to his tired self right now.
