Ashley Grey Hollingberry
Born with brittle bone disease, Ash had to be practically rebuilt from the ground up for her own survival.
As a child, she was placed in the care of her oldest sister, Toki, who promised their parents she would provide only the most advanced cybernetic science for her sister.
Advanced however, doesn't mean effective.
As an adult, Ash tried to join her sisters Umber and Chroma on the battlefield, using her sister's specially designed magic talisman-powered cyborg augs. Only to fall behind both of them in terms of effectiveness.
At first, Ash blamed herself, believing she was incompetent. But, that couldn't have been further from the truth.
Her body was designed to fail.
It had twelve magic talismans built within, which is ludicrous.
A mage can only use seven at the most before they stop seeing returns. Any more is not only pointless, but places a massive strain on the user.
Not only was her body ineffective, the talismans within it were actively damaging themselves from over taxing.
And more than that, magically powered cybernetics have never been effective in combat. Magic and technology very rarely mix. Cyborgs with magic capability are only ever able to do menial level tasks, such as forming a wall or sculpting.
She may have been the first example ever of a magically powered cyborg that could fight, but she was still woefully behind the performance levels of other cyborgs.
She was effectively sabotaged by her own sister.
Something had to change.
After her body, designed by her sister, failed in battle like it was designed to do, Ash had to wear civilian prosthetics for a while.
She.
Was.
Miserable.
The only one of her sisters who couldn't fight.
But, she began to feel a ping in the back of her mind. Like a calling. The beginnings of a Q-bond, something that all Race X feel.
This meant two things.
One, she was beginning to achieve Quantum Ascension.
Two, the Q-bond that was forming wasn't for either of her sisters, parents, or lovers.
It was coming from somewhere she had never been. A tiny mountain range in Northpeak.
And inside a cave were Uriel, Nepsy, and Enyo. Each waiting for Ash to arrive. The fourth Forgemaster of the Forge Aeturnum. A Forge established by Enyo to produce weapons and armor for a hero not born yet who they feel will save the world.
Enyo was a material gatherer.
Nepsy was a smith.
Uriel was an enchanter.
And Ash?
Ash had a library of Qilau technical knowledge downloaded into her head from a previous mission she did with Chroma and Umber.
So, with these four, they made new limbs for Ash.
Alien Shape Metal gathered from the Savage Continent by Enyo.
Specified with Qilau tech by Ash.
Enchanted and inscribed with runes to channel its magic energies by Uriel.
And smithed and tempered by Nepsy.
When Ash realized her place was in the forge, she Ascended.
And the limbs she made were drawn to her, becoming her new body, and completely reformatting her inside and out.
The first magic-powered combat cyborg.
