Pretty cool, tho my ideal mitts'd have fingers (ie, pawpads) but no thumbs, probably

That would be pretty easy to make too! You could start with gloves and then just remove the thumbs. It would probably be really hard to use things while wearing them, though, what with thumbs being instrumental in humans' tool-using successes and so on.

What about split mittens (3-finger) ? I have only seen them as ski gloves and medieval replicas, so I thought about modifying some 5-fingered gloves, but that would leave big annoying seams...

Back in college I made some gloves for my first attempt at a fursuit, which had three fingers and a thumb. It was pretty easy to just make those from scratch. I just traced my hand (with my pinky and ring finger together) onto a stack of cloth and cut out four identical pieces, and sewed them together in pairs.

It's pretty easy. I just modified some knee-high socks.

yeah but the problem is i don't have any knee-high socks (atleast i can't find any).
other than that i only have some old t-shirts that i used to use for materials when i was making gloves.

I bought those ones at sockdreams.com. They're a bit expensive though - I wouldn't have modified them if they weren't already wearing out.

Modifying shirts is a pretty good way to go too though.

yeah, but i only make gloves when i've got nothing to do or when i'm really bored.
the anoying thing is that when i've just finished the right hand glove i get too lazy to do the other one. or i just don't have enough materials.
