Ricarda Alvarez is a strong, determined and resolute 3rd year student at the Kilima boarding school in the shape of an ostrich. The 16-year-old maintains a friendly sports competition with her schoolmate Marc - and emerges victorious in almost all disciplines. In dangerous situations, Ricarda combines both strength and speed in attack and defense, making her a serious threat and a trustworthy ally. She and her brother Jeromy, who is two years younger and attends the first year of the Kilima school, come from a broken home. Ricarda sees herself as a kind of parent replacement for her little brother. Her overprotectiveness (especially for her little brother Jeremy) has earned her the nickname mother hen.
