Chapter 2 - Fish-Man Island

Eight years later, Aqua is now eight years old, and has grown into a young mermaid. She lays down on the bed on her belly, and looks at the morning sun reflection on the surface through the window.
She sighed contentedly and said. “It’s so beautiful out there… Sunshine in the morning.”
Then a pink amphibian leaps into Aqua’s back, which surprises the little mermaid. She turned her head, and it’s Coral, a seven-year-old saltwater axolotl, and she’s Aqua’s best friend since three years ago.
“You awake, Aqua?” Coral asked as she's climbing into Aqua’s shoulder.
“Hahaha, what do you think, Coral?” Aqua laughed playfully as she hugged Holly.
Behind Aqua’s door, Ryujin and Athena peeks through the door, and smiles that their daughter wakes up earlier.
“Hmhmhm… Your daughter is awake.” Athena chuckles.
“Before sunrise, he's YOUR daughter.” Ryujin joked as Athena chuckles.
Then Ryujin opened the door gently and greets, “Good morning, Aqua.”
Aqua heard his father’s voice and looked at him. “Good morning, dad!”
“It seems like you woke up earlier this morning.” Ryujin said.
“Yeah, because I’m excited that you’re going to show me something today as you promised.” Aqua said.
“Hehehehe, I can see that. Shall we?” Ryujin asked as he reached his hand and Aqua already held his hand.
Then they glided out of her room with bubbles around their hips as Coral ran after them.
“Hey, wait, Aqua! Can't I come?” Coral asks as Athena rubs Aqua’s head gently.
“No, Coral. This is between me and dad. He wants to show me about Atlantis. You stay here with mom.” Aqua said as she kept gliding with her father before they reached the exit.
“Oh, golly. I never get to go anywhere with Aqua.” Coral pouted while crossing her arms as Queen Athena chuckles silently and Raki approaches and rubs Coral’s back with his left wing.
“Sorry, Coral. But this is the father and daughter moment. He wants to show her something about the kingdom of Atlantis. So that is why the young princess doesn't want you to spoil the moment between them.” Raki said.
“Yeah, I guess…” Coral pouted.
“Cheer up, young lass, one day Aqua will be queen; then you can swim with her from dawn until dusk.” Raki said as he and Holly walked through the path to the exit.
Athena looked lovely as her daughter and husband glided through the passage and out into the open sea.
A bit later, Aqua and Ryujin were 1,500 meters above Atlantis as the sunrise illuminates the reef and the whole island impressively.
“Look, Aqua. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.” Ryujin said.
“Wow.” Aqua gasped, amazed.
The camera revolves around them, during Ryujin's speech, from a reverse view to a frontal shot.
“A king or a queen's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Aqua, the sun will set on my or your mother’s time here, and will rise with you as the new queen.” Ryujin said.
“And this will all be mine?” Aqua asked.
“Yes. It belongs to no one but will be yours to protect. A great responsibility.” Ryujin replied as he’s looking at the reef.
“Everything the light touches…” Aqua whispered, amazed as she looked around.
“Even though the shadowy places are beyond our borders, that doesn’t mean we shall not explore there.” Ryujin said as he pointed at the rip-rap canyon to the south.
“You mean… You and your soldiers exploring the uncharted places which are beyond Atlantis?” Aqua asked.
“While others search for what they can take, a true king and queen searches for what they can give… or discover the treasure.” Ryujin replied. “But you have to wait until you’re eighteen.”
“Gosh… Ten years took a long time.” Aqua whispered, amazed.
“Yes, but there are a lot of things you need to learn before you can explore the uncharted locations you want.” Ryujin said as he swam up towards the surface as Aqua followed him behind.
They emerged from the water, and Aqua looked at the sky.
“Pretty… So this is what the real sky looks like. It looks so… endless.” Aqua whispered, amazed, then looked up at the sun. “Wow…! Is this bright circle called a sun?”
“Indeed. The sun is far away beyond the skies. Even though the sun is far away, it is impossible to predict when mankind will be able to construct a vehicle that will be able to fly to the moon.” Ryujin replied, then he looked at the country, far away on the horizon.
“The land over there is where the Atlantean humans lived there. They named their new home as “Odyssey Kingdom”.” Ryujin said as Aqua swims to him.
“So these humans… looks like us… except we have our own tails, and they have legs like Fish-Men, right?” Aqua asked.
“Precisely. They may be different from us, but we Atlanteans lived together as one before you were born. Atlantis was formerly a country island, and we lived together as not just friends… We are family.” Ryujin explained.
“But in the end… Atlantis was sunk to the bottom of the ocean because of the earthquake?” Aqua asked.
“Yes, unfortunately. But even though we have departed, we still have one thing in common; coexistence. Although the other humans are different from their Atlantean counterparts; there are some conflicts between species.” Ryujin said.
“The history of conflict between humans and Fish-men explains the discrimination and racism deeply entrenched in both races. The regular humans often view Fish-men with disgust or fear. This ingrained prejudice created a barrier to understanding and accepting their nature.” Ryujin continues.
“This is not fair…” Aqua whispered sadly.
“Someday, only somewhere will work hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans, and maybe someday, someone will take a stand against the discrimination towards Fish-Men and Merfolk.” Ryujin said.
“What about the Atlantean humans? Shouldn’t they come to visit us?” Aqua asked.
“If only they could. But unfortunately, they don’t have any coating, which is a process in which a ship is coated with special resin from the Hustle Muscle Mangrove, enabling it to sail underwater and survive the crushing depths of the ocean. So I’m afraid they can’t visit Atlantis right now.” Ryujin said as Aqua's lip quiver, then sighed sadly.
“It’s okay, Aqua. We always visited their island every month to see our human friends again.” Ryujin said as Aqua feels a bit better.
“That’s good. Thanks, dad.” Aqua said as she hugged her father’s torso while Ryujin chuckled.
Then Ryujin dives underwater before Aqua glances at the Odyssey Kingdom before she submerges to catch up to her father.
After a while, they swam underwater as they swam through the pods of humpback whales.
“Everything you see exists together, in a delicate balance. As a queen, you need to understand that balance, and respect all the creatures; from a small zooplankton to the large humpback whales.” Ryujin said.
“But, Dad, do we sometimes eat fish, or we just eat food from the humans?” Aqua asked.
“Yes, Aqua, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the seagrass. And the sea turtles and dugongs eat the seagrass.” Ryujin explained as he and Aqua stopped swimming while looking at the great view of the reef.
“And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life…” Ryujin finished.
Out of nowhere Raki swims towards Aqua and Ryujin, and he’s holding a piece of paper on his left wing.
“Your Majesty! I have a letter for you.” Raki greets as he gives the letter to Ryujin.
“A letter? From who?” Aqua asked.
“Hmm, let’s see… ‘Dear King Ryujin of Atlantis. I would like you to visit Ryugu Kingdom. There’s something I would like to show you very important. Signed, Queen Otohime.’ Hmm… Interesting.” Ryujin read.
“Yes, and she wants us to be in Fish-Man, right away!” Raki said.
“Um, Mister Raki, who’s Queen Otohime?” Aqua asked.
“She’s the queen of the Ryugu Kingdom, and the wife of king Neptune. She was an avid supporter of Fish-Men rights and against their mistreatment by humans. Unlike other Fish-Men, she avidly supported the coexistence between Fish-Men and humans.” Raki replied.
“Meaning?” Aqua asked.
“She worked hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans, dreaming of having her people emigrate from the seafloor to the surface, and seeing the real sun.” Raki replied.
“Wow… So, are we…?” Aqua asked.
“Raki, gather all Royal Soldiers! Otohime invited us for a donation. We’re paying Ryugu Kingdom a visit.” Ryujin commanded as Raki saluted.
“Yes, sir! And I’ll watch over Atlantis while you’re gone!” Raki said as he swam off.
“Thanks, and make sure to get things under control!” Ryujin called.
“So, daddy, we’re going all to the Ryugu Kingdom? Where is it?” Aqua asked as she and Ryujin swam off.
“The Ryugu Kingdom is the country that King Neptune rules over. It includes all of Fish-Man Island as well as the surrounding areas.” Ryujin replied.
“Wow… So we’re going to another kingdom? Awesome!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“Yes, Aqua. We are all going to Ryugu Kingdom.” Ryujin chuckles.
“Oh, boy! I can’t wait!” Aqua giggled, excitedly.

Much later on that day, the Ryujin Family, sitting on a huge seashell chariot pulled by a trio of killer whales, were heading to Fish-Man Island.
Aqua, who saw besides Athena, looked out to the beautiful landscape of coral, then she saw various fish swim and seaweed sways gently. Near the ocean floor a blue whale swims with two calves.
“This is beautiful… I’ve never seen a place this closer before.” Aqua whispered, amazed.
“Me neither. I wish my mom and dad would see them too. They would be fascinated to see these corals.” Coral said.
“I think they will. I haven’t been this far before.” Aqua said.
“We’re almost at the tunnel which is connected to Fish-Man Island, Your Majesty!” Atlantis Royal Guard No.1 announced.
“Alright! And in we go!” Ryujin said as they entered the massive tunnel.
As they do, they were looking at the glowing crystals with various colors.
Aqua and Coral were awed to see the glowing crystals in the tunnel, while looking at them in different sizes and colors.
Twelve minutes later, after they went through a tunnel, they reached the exit, and outside, it is revealed that there is a huge island, surrounded by a humongous bubble. The Ryujin Family have reached their destination: Fish-Man Island.
“Dad… Is that-” Aqua started, but Ryujin interrupted.
“Yes. This is Fish-Man Island.” Ryujin said.
“It’s huge!” Coral cried, amazed.
“So where is Queen Otohime’s castle?” Aqua asked.
“Up there above the island. That is Ryugu Castle.” Athena said as she pointed at the Ryugu Castle, which is apparently located in the smaller bubble that sits on top of the main bubble surrounding the island.
“Yeow! It’s very high up!” Aqua cried, stunned.
“How do we ever get up there?” Coral asked.
“It’s simple. All we need to do is to use the Bubbly Coral to make my chariot and orcas float in the air.” Ryujin said.
“Ah, I see.” Coral said.
♫One Piece Film Z - A Decision in One's Life♫
After passing through the Fish-Man Island’s main entrance, the Ryujin Guards activate the Bubbly Coral around the chariot and orcas, they slowly float in the air.
At Gyoverly Hills in the Ryugu Kingdom, the crowd that had gathered to see King Ryujin and Queen Otohime are now chattering amongst themselves.
“Hey, what’s that chariot up there?” asked a Fish-man.
“It can’t be!” Another Fish-Man said.
“It is! It’s King Ryujin and Queen Otohime of Atlantis!” The third Fish-Man cried, amazed.
“What are they doing here?” A mermaid asked.
“They are heading to Ryugu Castle!” “A merman replied.
“Are they going to visit King Neptune and Queen Otohime?”
“Yeah, it seems so.”
Up in the sky, Aqua and Coral gasped amazed and looked down at the bird-eye view of the Fish-Man Island.
“Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life?” Aqua asked.
“Wow, cool! Everyone’s so tiny!” Coral gasped, amazed.
“But I don’t understand, dad. How can it be so bright and sunny down here on Fish-Man Island when we’re 30,000 ft below sea level? I mean it’s under the Red Line, right?” Aqua asked.
“Indeed, my young lady.” Ryujin replied. “It’s not bright because we’re here. This is the only place in the world where light reaches the ocean floor, which is why the ancient ancestors of the Fish-men decided to live here.”
“That is the secret of Fish-Man Island, Aqua.” Queen Athena added. “Queen Otohime and King Neptune explained to us about the roots of the Giant Sun Tree of Eve which reach this place and bring the light from the surface down to them.”

“Sun Tree?” Coral repeated. “You mean there’s a tree that can transfer light 30,000 ft underwater?!”
“That’s right,” Ryujin answered. “The scientists have some complicated theories about it, but, in essence, it is a mystical tree that emits light from the surface. Not only that, but its roots breathe, which allows us to get air from the surface as well.”
“Do you mean it’s like a bigger version of the Yarukiman Mangrove trees on the Sabaody Archipelago, right?” Aqua inquired.
“That’s right,” Ryujin replied. “When the sun shines on the surface, the seafloor is illuminated as well. When night falls there, it grows dark here, too. Thus, we are able to enjoy the blessings of the sun, even in the darkest depths of the sea!”
“The Sun Tree Eve…” Aqua mused. “Just like the Sun Tree Adam back at Atlantis… That’s… incredible.”
“Your Majesty, I’m so nervous. Is it okay for us to go to Ryugu Castle?” Coral asked nervously. “I mean I haven't seen King Neptune or Queen Otohime in person before.”
“Queen Otohime asked us to see us, the Atlantean Merfolk, since she knows our history and coexistence with humans. She and her husband, Neptune, have visited our island twice before you were born, 17 years ago.” Athena replied. “We’ve met them a few times.”
“Few times? I see. You are already friends with them, Your Highness.” Coral said as Athena nodded.
“So rest assured, she welcomed us as fellow merfolk, and she was very delighted about our relationship with our Atlantean human friends.” Athena finished.
“I see. I hope she and her family don't mind about Aqua’s magical hairpin.” Coral said.
“You mean like using this star-shaped hairpin I wear on to make me grow like a giant?” Aqua asked.
“As a demonstration, Aqua? Yes, of course they don’t mind. Neptune is, after all, a giant-sized merman. Anyway, we’re almost at the palace! Look! There’s the entrance right there!” Ryujin said.
The Ryujin Family soon reached a giant bubble. Not one as gigantic as the bubble surrounding the island, but still very humongous. Aqua soon noticed some sort of hole up above.
KLIK! DING-DONG! Ryujin pressed a button, and a bell rang.
“Yes?” said a voice on the intercom.
“It is I, King Ryujin from Atlantis Kingdom,” Ryujin answered.
“K-KING RYUJIN?! You’re here! Queen Otohime expected you in the throne room! H-hang on! I’ll open the passageway, right away!”
SHWOO!! Soon, a Water Road appeared and connected to the entrance.
“Wow, amazing…!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“They opened the passageway for us.” Coral said.
“Ready or not…!” Ryujin started.
And so, the Ryujin Family entered the Water Road, letting the current carry them straight up into the palace.
“Here we go!” Ryujin called.
“I can’t wait to see the palace!” Coral exclaimed.

Soon, the family emerged from the Water Road and came upon an enormous coral palace with a twisting, turning dragon statue on the top.
“WOW~!! It’s huge!” Aqua cried.
“Yup.” Ryujin said. “That’s the Ryugu Palace!”
“It’s beautiful!” Coral added.
“King Ryujin and his family have arrived!”
“Open the gate!”
RRRRRRMMB!! The palace gates opened, and the group soon entered a huge corridor, lined with Neptune Army’s guards at both sides.
“Welcome to Ryugu Palace, King Ryujin!”
“Wow… Even the corridor is huge too!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“Yeah, no kidding. Even this whole place is filled with water.” Coral agreed.
“Your Majesty, Ryujin of Atlantis. Queen Otohime expected you at the throne room.” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.1 announced while saluted.
“Good, and I was expecting to see the sea god himself, Neptune.” Ryujin said.
“Yes, sir.” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.1 nodded.
At the throne room, a giant merman, who sits on his throne chair, with an orange beard and long, curly orange hair, and his body is hairy all over. His nose is red and he has blue eyes. He has matching black tattoos, which look like a spiral with wavy protrusion designs around it, on both arms.
Upon his head is a golden crown that resembles a tulip with pearls embedded in it.
He is the great God of the Sea, King Neptune of Ryugu Kingdom, a Coelacanth Merman.
Besides him, there’s a mermaid who is the wife of King Neptune, Queen Otohime.
Unlike her husband, Otohime was a regular human-sized Goldfish Mermaid. She had golden-blonde hair that was partially held up in two loops, and her hair was held by an orange hairpiece in the shape of a steering wheel, and she has beautiful emerald eyes, as well as pink lipstick.
She wore a very long, white kimono with a cream-colored carp-scale design along the hem and a sash around her shoulders that floated behind her head much like her children do. Also, although it couldn’t really be seen through her robes, it appeared her tail had split in two, so it appeared that she was at least in her thirties.
“King Neptune! Queen Otohime! The Ryujin Family has arrived as we speak!” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.2 called after he stopped in front of them.
“That’s wonderful. Bring them in here. I just want to tell them some wonderful news.” Otohime said as she looked up to her husband. “Neptune, I know it’s been 17 years since we saw them back at Atlantis, but we finally can see them again.”
“Indeed, Otohime. But it’s been a long time since I saw Ryujin when he was 18 years old. Like yesterday, he was a fun-loving, adventurous prince, jamon. But now… he’s the king. I wonder how much he has grown now.” Neptune said.
“Yes, especially his lovely wife, Athena.” Otohime said, then let her soft sigh. “Atlanteans have their special bond with their support and friendship and harmony. That’s why I’ll do my best to form our bond with humans too.”
“Mm-hmm, they are such special people with no discrimination, jamon.” Neptune agreed.
“Your Majesty. You already know that Atlantis has sunk to the bottom of the ocean after the earth crust has shifted and caused a powerful earthquake.” The Minister of the Right, a seahorse merman, said.
“But good thing that their fortune-teller Aurora who predicted before the earthquake strikes the island, and everyone’s life has not been lost. Such relief, isn’t it?” The Minister of the Left, a catfish merman said.
“Mother! Father!” A voice came from the trio of Neptune Princes.
One of them is Fukaboshi, a shark merman and the eldest son of the royal Neptune Family. The second is Ryuboshi, an oarfish merman and the second son. And the third one is Manboshi, an opah merman and the third son.
They are in their mid-teens.
Behind them, is their younger sister, and she’s bigger than her brother.
She’s six years old, and she wore a light-colored crop top with floating straps.
Her name is Princess Shirahoshi. She's a smelt-whiting mermaid and the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, as the youngest of King Neptune's children and the only daughter in the Neptune royal family.
“Is it true the Ryujin royal family is here?” Fukaboshi asked.
“The real Atlanteans are here?” Ryuboshi asked, excitedly.
“Yes, my boys. They are here.” Neptune nodded.
“Umm… big brother?” Shirahoshi asked. “What’s an Atlantean?”
“They are merfolk just like us. Some Atlanteans are Fish-Men and humans who lived in peace and harmony.” Mamboshi replied.
“Really…?” Shirahoshi gasped, amazed.
♫The Little Mermaid (1989) - Fanfare (0:00 to 0:08)♫
She had never heard of Atlantis until her mother, Otohime, mentioned that when she was five years old. Then she and her brothers heard the royal guards play a fanfare with their trumpets.
One of the royal guards approaches Neptune and Otohime, then coughs before he speaks.
“Behold the King and Queen with their daughter from the kingdom of Atlantis! His royal majesty, King Ryujin! Her glorious highness, Queen Athena. And Princess Aqua!” The royal guard announced before steps aside.
♫The Little Mermaid (1989) - Fanfare (0:09 to 0:28)♫
RRRRRRMMB!! The throne room’s door opened, and King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Aqua with Coral entered dramatically swimming forward to wild cheering. Sparks shoot from Ryujin’s trident and light a chandelier.
The Neptune princes and Shirahoshi gasped in amazement.
“Amazing-so-la-ti-do!” Ryuboshi said while ending his sentences by singing part of a musical scale.
“Yeah.” Fukaboshi nodded.
Shirahoshi was awed to see the Atlantean Merfolk enter the throne room and stopped in front of the giant sized King Neptune.
“It’s been a while, King Neptune.” King Ryujin said as he bows.
Neptune was even more surprised to see his old friend had grown; he’s now a well-muscled merman and now is 3 meters tall. Overjoyed, he rises up from his throne chair.

“RYUICHI! HOHOHO!” Neptune laughed. “Ryuichi, my old boy. Look how grown you are! How's your reign of Atlantis so far, jamon?”
“As usual, it’s going very marvelous. And I see you’re doing just fine as well.” Ryujin said as he shook his hand with Neptune.
“Indeed I am, my old friend.” Neptune said.
“Queen Otohime, it’s been too long!” Athena greets happily as she and Otohime clasp their hands.
“Oh, I’m so glad to see you too. I've missed you.” Otohime said, and noticed Athena’s curvy body. “And… Your body seems to be voluptuous.”
“Hehehe, you can say that again.” Athena laughed as King Ryujin looked at Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Manboshi and Shirahoshi.
“Oh, by the way, Neptune. Aren’t these children of yours?” Ryujin asked.
“HOHOHO! Yes, they are my and Otohime's children.” Neptune laughed. “Now introduce yourselves, my children.”
“The name’s Fukaboshi. Nice to meet you, Your Majesty.” Fukaboshi said as he bows.
“Pleasure to meet you, Prince Fukaboshi.” King Ryujin said.
“I’m Ryuboshi, so-la-ti-do!” Ryuboshi said.
“And my name is Mamboshi! Ooh, mambo!” Mamboshi introduced while showing his dance.
“Pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Princes Ryuboshi and Mamboshi.” Queen Athena said.
♫The Little Mermaid (1989) - Ariel in Love (Score) (0:11)♫
“And this is my baby daughter, Princess Shirahoshi.” Otohime said as Shirahoshi looks a bit timid, but somehow she feels calm when she’s looking at Aqua who looks at her back and blushes.
She has never seen a cute mermaid, even though she's bigger than her big brothers, even her mother.
“Uhm… Nice to meet you, King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Princess Aqua.” Shirahoshi said as she shyly waved her hand at the Ryujin family.
“Pleasure to meet you too, Princess Shirahoshi. My name is Princess Aqua. Call me Aqua, please.” Aqua said as she waved her hand back.
“Your daughter is quite… so big, isn’t she?” Athena asked.
“Yeah, even after her birth, she has quite grown larger. But she’s still so pretty.” Otohime said.
“Aqua, would you mind showing everyone your magical hairpin as a demonstration?” Ryujin asked as Aqua nodded and swam into the middle of the throne room.
♫Sonic Unleashed - Cutscene - The First Night (0:18 to 0:42)♫
A white glow began to emanate from something in her hair, and Shirahoshi noticed a star-shaped hairpin that Aqua was wearing there, and how it was now letting off such a brilliant light.
Soon thereafter, young Aqua began to grow bigger and taller, slowly increasing in scale up and up. This was much to the surprise of Neptune, Otohime, Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Manboshi, Shirahoshi, Minister of the Right, Minister of the Left and the guards who were present.
By the time the glow from Aqua’s hairpin and her growth subsided, Aqua was the same size as Shirahoshi, if not five or so centimeters taller.
“Oh, my…!” Otohime gasped, amazed.
“Well, I’ll be…!” King Neptune muttered, amazed.
“Amazing!” Manboshi and Ryuboshi cried, excitedly.
“Wow… Such magic power…” Fukaboshi muttered, amazed.
Shirahoshi put her hands on her mouth, and gasped amazed. “Incredible, Aqua…!”
“As you can see, this is the Growth Hairpin. It’s a magical hairpin we found that was created by an ancient mermaid sorceress who creates some magical pearls, hairpins, and bracelets that hold different powers for only Atlantean species.” Ryujin explained.
“For example, Aqua can control the Growth Hairpin’s powers and shrink or grow with her own will.” Athena said as the three Neptune sons were pace slowly around Aqua as Shirahoshi was fascinated by the Growth Hairpin’s powers.
“Such outstanding powers. And I think it could be useful when you and your people are up against the giant sea monster, jamon.” Neptune said, amazed.
“Athena, your daughter is so very special.” Otohime said. “I’ve got a feeling that in the future, she’s going to be a great queen one day.”
“Thanks, Otohime. Now then, what do you want to show us?” Athena asked.

“I’m glad that you asked.” Otohime said as she showed the sheet of paper. “A week ago, the World Nobles had a lot of influence on the world and returned with a signature to me.”
“World Nobles?!” Athena gasped. “They are also known as the Celestial Dragons?”
“By the Gods… Do you know that those Celestial Dragons are the aristocratic descendants of nineteen of the First Twenty who established what is now known as the World Government?” Ryujin asked, worriedly.
“Yes, I do know. After a week of convincing, I’ve finally succeeded in calming down the Celestial Dragons, and I’ve brought back with me a sheet of paper which is the ray of hope of the Fish-Man Island.” Otohime said.
“Amazing… You’ve convinced them to discuss forming the coexistence between your people and the regular humans. You’re really a brave queen.” Ryujin said, amazed.
“So that is why I implore you and your family to sign these signatures for my donation as our friends from Atlantis.” Otohime said.
“Otohime…” Athena muttered, surprised.
“Can we, daddy, mommy?” Aqua asked as Athena and Ryujin looked at her. “Can we do it for Queen Otohime, pretty please?”
“Well, my love?” Athena asked.
“Queen Otohime…” Ryujin started as he turned to Queen Otohime. “It would be a great pleasure to sign our donations for you and your kingdom’s future.”
“Thank you.” Otohime said as she bows in front of Ryujin and Athena.
“It’s been a great pleasure to accept my queen’s request, my old friend.” Neptune said. “But anyhow, I thought your brother was with you. Where is he?”
“Oh, Neptune…” Ryujin sighed, and slapped his hand to his face. “I’m afraid he’s not interested in visiting Fish-Man Island.”
As Ryujin talks to Neptune and Otohime, Coral pops out of Aqua’s hair and lands on her shoulder and sighed. “Here they go again. They’re talking about your uncle Skar.”
“Yeah… And he’ll never come with us, especially giving his signature to Queen Otohime.” Aqua sighed.

“Uhm, Princess Aqua, is this little axolotl friend of yours?” Shirahoshi asked.
“Yes, this is my pet, or more likely, my friend Coral.” Aqua said as Coral waved her hand at Shirahoshi, Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi and Manboshi.
“Hi, my friends.” Coral greeted.
“She’s so cute.” Shirahoshi coos.
“Princess Aqua, I mean, Aqua. Does your father have animal friends in Atlantis?” Manboshi asked.
“Yes, Rocky or everybody called him Raki, the rockhopper penguin, is my daddy’s advisor and a poetry writer.” Aqua said.
“A penguin?” Ryuboshi and Mamboshi gasped, surprised as Shirahoshi coos delighted.
“Do you think we expected a crab, maybe?” Fukaboshi jokes.
“Yeah, but I, for one, think penguins are cute.” Ryuboshi said as Mamboshi and Shirahoshi nodded.
“Still, I’m amazed that this axolotl can talk.” Mamboshi said.
“As you can see, all animals in the kingdom of Atlantis are able to speak the human tongue in our way.” Coral said.
“Oh, so that’s why you’re able to talk like us.” Shirahoshi coos, amazed.
“Ah, the world works in strange and sometimes frightening ways, Princess Shirahoshi,” replied Coral. “That's just the way it is. Like anything's possible in the whole world.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Shirahoshi said.
And then a shark came swimming towards Aqua and Coral, and it was wearing a Criminal brand T-shirt.
“SHAA! SHAA!” A shark cried happily.
“MECHOKKU!” Coral cried, shocked and hid behind Aqua’s hair.
“Wow, a shark! And it wears a T-shirt.” Aqua said, amazed.
“This is Neptune Army’s pet, Megalo.” Fukaboshi said.
“Nice to meet you, Megalo. My name is Aqua.” Aqua said as she rubs Megalo’s head gently.
“I have no idea why the Neptune Army has a shark as its pet.” Coral whispered, amazed.
Then Aqua hears Ryujin’s deep sigh and looks at him.
“I just don't know what we're going to do with Skar, Neptune.” Ryujin sighed. “He’s not interested in either the Odyssey Kingdom or humans, or even our parties. He’s always left alone and isolated himself in his room.”
“We didn't see him at the presentation of Aqua when she was born.” Athena said. “I just don’t know what’s gotten into him.”
“Hmmm…” Neptune hummed. “It seems like Skar’s always avoiding you and your family for his own reasons when it comes to humans. I guess he’s not interested in the Ryugu Kingdom either. What a shame, jamon…”
“Oh, brother,” the Minister of the Left said.
“Honestly, somebody's got to nail that man's fins to the floor,” the Minister of the Right said.
“Ryujin, even though you haven’t tried to change him, he's your brother.” Otohime said.
“Mm-hmm. Yeah, you’re probably right, Otohime.” Ryujin said.

Much later at Shirahoshi’s room, Aqua explained everything about the history of Atlantis. Shirahoshi and the Neptune Princes were listening very carefully.
Otohime and Athena stood at the door while watching Aqua telling the story.
“Your daughter is so gifted. She has knowledge about the Atlantis Kingdom's history.” Otohime said.
“Yes… This morning, Ryujin shows our young Aqua the kingdom and explains to her the responsibilities of queenship and the "circle of life", which connects all living things.” Athena said.
“Then, he shows her about the Atlantean Humans who lived in their new country, Odyssey Kingdom. The humans haven’t explored the land outside their city yet. There are lots of places to explore and learn.” Athena said.
“Oh, at times like this I wish I shall visit the Odyssey Kingdom someday too. But I can’t… I still worked hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans. And I always wished that my people would emigrate from the seafloor to the surface.” Otohime said.
“Yes, and Ryujin always wished somehow that our island would emerge back to the surface again… If only a miracle could happen.” Athena said.
“Then don’t give up on his dream. There’s after all a hope for your kingdom. And my people, even my children and my husband will always support you, Atlanteans.” Otohime said as she clasped Athena’s hands.
“Thank you, Otohime. You’re a wonderful friend.” Athena said as Otohime nodded.
Later, in Conchorde Plaza, Otohime had once again gathered her subjects around, holding up the piece of paper she had brought home with her in her hand. According to her, it was revealed to be a statement… from a World Noble. The statement seemed to have a great impact at the Reverie, the Conference of Kings.
Aqua, King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Coral are already putting their sheets of paper in the petition box.
“People of Fish-Man Island!” Otohime began, “The World Nobles are very influential in the World Summit - the Summit of Kings.”
She raises her hand while holding the sheet of paper. “Listen to what they wrote; “I, too, approve of friendship between Fish-Men, merfolk, and humans, as stated in the petition.” In other words, if we were to present lots of signatures at the Reverie, this one piece of parchment could make our dreams a reality! Then, we could all emigrate!”
The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves.
“Can it be true?”
“The signature of a Celestial Dragon will make it happen!?”
“I’m not sure if I can believe that.”
“All we need now is as many of your signatures as possible,” Otohime said. “It’s all up to you. Please…show me your willingness to live with the humans. Show me your willingness to immigrate to the surface!”
A pause…but no one seemed to step forward. Otohime looked at her subjects, who all looked back at her. Then… she sighed, hanging her head in defeat.
“I… I suppose it’s all for nothing,” she thought.
Aqua looks sadly at King Ryujin and Queen Athena who leans their head down, hopelessly and closes their eyes, then she sighs sadly. “Queen Otohime…”
Suddenly, Otohime looked up and saw many of the children, amongst them a younger Camie and Pappug rushing up to the petition box and putting in sheets of paper, all with signatures.
Otohime smiled at the children and said, “Oh, children… You always give me such hope. You’re not going to ask for it back later, are you?”

“Nuh-uh!” A young merman answered. “And my father’s signature is in there, too, and my Mom’s!”
“My Mom said she’ll sign, too!” said a young Fishboy.
“My dad will sign, too!” A young mermaid said.
“And here’s mine and Pappug’s signature!” Camie said as she put in another sheet of paper.
“W…what?” Otohime asked, surprised.
Just then, more Fish-men and merfolk started to come up…and put more signatures in the box!
“Here! Here’s my signature!”
“And mine!”
“Here’s mine!”
“Don’t forget mine! Oh! And my brother's there, too!”
“Here you go!”
“Here’s mine and my sisters’ signatures!”
Otohime stared in disbelief as the box began to fill up more and more.
“Hey! Wait your turn!”
“Get in line, like everyone else!”
“Oops! Excuse me! Was that your foot? I was in a bit of a rush to get my signature there!”
“Don’t shove, please!”
Otohime gasped silently as she put her hands over her mouth in surprise.
“Hey, Queen Otohime! You’re gonna need a bigger box!”
“Yeah! Don’t you know how many people live on this island?”
“He’s right, you know! Not everyone’s signatures will fit in one little box!”
“W…what…?!” Otohime whispered…tears beginning to form in her eyes.
Just then, the Neptune Soldiers appeared, carrying an even bigger box.
“Coming through!” the Minister of the Right exclaimed. “Here, everyone! Please put your signatures in this box!” He then looked at a tearful Otohime and smiled.
“Your Majesty, this is no time for tears!” he said. “Why don’t you go and rest for a moment?”
“But… I…” Otohime began, but she was so overjoyed, she couldn’t get her words out.
“May I speak?” Athena asked as Otohime nodded.
“If you really do approve of Her Majesty, Queen Otohime’s passion,” Queen Athena shouted, “THEN STEP FORWARD AND BRING US ALL YOUR SIGNATURES!!”
The crowd burst into cheers and began to bring up their signatures and put them in the box. The Minister of the Left then came and took the crying Otohime away to rest.
Neptune, who happened to be watching nearby in case things got out of hand, sniffled and wiped his nose, happy for his wife’s triumph.
The Neptune Princes and Shirahoshi gave their mother a big congratulatory hug.
Aqua joined in and hugged Otohime to congratulate her.
“You did it, Otohime! I’m so happy for you.” Aqua said.
“Thank you… Aqua.” Otohime said as she hugged her back.
At long last, after seven long years, Otohime’s trials and tribulations had finally come true… and all her subjects and her children loved her.
People from all over the kingdom gather at the plaza with their signatures in hand, day after day, nonstop.
May 16th, 1524
Four days later, at Ryugu Palace, Otohime is speaking with her sons. She was outside, perched on the balcony railing, facing the Neptune Princes, and King Ryujin who leaned to the wall while crossing his arms and smiling at her.
“Mother! Signatures keep coming in from all over the country!” Mamboshi said.
“It’s going well, isn’t it?” Fukaboshi asked.
“Yes, it’s like a dream.” Otohime nodded.
“It’s because of your courage.” Ryuboshi said as Otohime chuckled.
“Courage? At that moment,” Otohime said, “I felt a surge of courage. I just knew this island could really change for the better!”
“At what moment, Mother?” Fukaboshi asked.
“When the Sea Kings came to the island,” said Otohime.
“Oh, that!” Manboshi said. “Yes, that was a real surprise, wasn’t it?!”
“The Sea Kings? How did this happen, Queen Otohime?” King Ryujin asked.
“…Shirahoshi summoned them,” Otohime said, simply.
“SHIRAHOSHI?!?” the Neptune Princes questioned in shock.

“What? She summoned the Sea Kings? How?” Ryujin asked in shock.
Otohime nodded her head before she turned and held out her hand to a couple of little fish.
“We Fish-Men and merfolk take our ability of talking to the fishes for granted,” she said, “but none of us can speak to the Sea Kings. Even your father, who alone can communicate with whales, is unable to do so.” She then turned back to the Princes.
“But, according to a legend passed down in the royal family,” she explained, “a mermaid who can communicate with the Sea King…is born once every few hundred years.”
The Neptune Princes and Ryujin gasped.
“You mean after the former Mermaid Princess of Ryugu Kingdom, right?” Ryujin asked as Otohime nodded.
“A mermaid who can communicate with those gigantic beasts?!” asked Fukaboshi.
“And you’re telling us that it’s Shirahoshi, Mother?!” Manboshi asked.
“That’s amazing!” Ryuboshi cried. “I’ve always wanted to ride a Sea King! Maybe I’ll have Shirahoshi summon one of them for me!”
“If your mother may continue, young Prince Ryuboshi,” Ryujin said, smiling at Ryuboshi’s enthusiasm.
“Oops! Sorry, King Ryujin,” Ryuboshi said. “Please continue, Mother.”
“Thank you,” Otohime said. “Now, along with that special mermaid will come one who can guide her to use her power for good, and when that time comes, the world shall change! That’s what the legend says.”
“The world will change, you say?!” asked Manboshi.
“Yes,” Otohime said, “and that means that this island will change, as well.”
“Then we hope it will be a great help to you, Mother!” said Ryuboshi.
“Yes, I’m sure it will,” Otohime said. “The power of love can save a great many when used correctly…but…”
“But?” Fukaboshi repeated.
“…if used maliciously,” Otohime began, “then it could be entirely catastrophic for the world. It is a formidable power that can be utterly destructive. I’m afraid that your sister is… completely unaware of this power for the time being. Not only that… but she cannot control it, either. If anything truly traumatic should happen to Shirahoshi… I’m afraid she might unwittingly cause the Sea Kings to run amok.”
“What?!” Manboshi questioned in surprise.
“If that were to happen, Fishman Island would be flattened like a pancake!” Ryuboshi exclaimed. “What should we do if something like that happened, Mother?!”
“Don’t worry! I’ll take care of that,” Otohime said. “For now, we are all safe.” She then turned and looked at her sons.
“That is why three of you, my sons, must grow up to be brave warriors,” she told them. “As both her brothers and her defenders… you must protect Shirahoshi with your very lives.”
“We will, Mother!” the Princes declared. “For sure!!”
Otohime chuckled, and said “Thank you.”
As the Neptune princes went inside the palace, Ryujin is still with Otohime.

“Otohime… I am sure your sons are going to be great warriors, and maybe great kings one day, just like their father.” Ryujin said.
“Yeah, you might say that again, Ryujin.” Otohime said.
“And I’m surprised that Shirahoshi possesses that kind of power to summon the Sea Kings. Do you think she’s able to control them when she’s getting older?” Ryujin asked.
“Yes, and I’m sure that my husband and sons will help her to control them.” Otohime replied.
“Otohime, there’s something I’ll have to tell you.” Ryujin said.
“What is it? Is it about Aqua?” Otohime asked.
“Yes… She’s my special treasure. I’ve taught her that my time as a ruler has come to an end one day, and Aqua shall arise as a new queen of Atlantis.” Ryujin said.
“I see… In other words, you're stepping down as the king.” Otohime said.
“Yes, but there are lots of things she needs to learn and waiting until the time has come. If she reaches adulthood, someday she’ll find someone so special. Someone who will take care of Aqua when she’s a queen. But I don’t want to force her to marry someone she doesn’t know. I let her decide to make her own choices.” Ryujin said.

“Yeah… You’re probably right. And it seems like Shirahoshi really likes her.” Otohime said.
“She does?” Ryujin asked as his eyes widened in surprise. “I guess she’s a princess after all.”
“Yeah, she told me that Aqua’s story about Atlantis was beyond the fairy tale, even though she knew it existed even though it sank to the seafloor.” Otohime said.
“Is it that obvious?” Ryujin said while smiling at her. “Every story she told was true. And I think she likes Shirahoshi too. I have never seen her so happy to be with another princess.”
“Me neither, and neither is Neptune. We’re so happy to see your daughter keep Shirahoshi company.” Otohime said.
“Yeah, that’s because of her magical Growth Hairpin.” Ryujin said.
“It could be handy when your daughter matches my daughter’s size. I’ll give my thanks to the ancient mermaid sorceress for making that hairpin.” Otohime said.
“The hairpin is not the only thing she makes.” Ryujin said. “She also made magical pearls for 70 years.”
“70 years? She really has a lot of hard work to do.” Otohime said.
“Yup. She studied pearls when she's 20 years old. To make Atlantean species like humans, fish-men and merfolk powerful to protect Atlantis, the sorceress fused the pearls with different magical powers that rival the Devil Fruit's powers.” Ryujin explained.
“Unlike the Devil Fruit users who are susceptible to all types of water, not just seawater, whoever uses the magical pearls doesn’t have a weakness against any kind of water, and can’t sink like a hammer.” He continued.
“So it has no weakness just like Devil Fruits, huh? Those pearls could be useful for my people too, someday.” Otohime said, amazed.
“Yeah, and they have some of the same powers from Devil Fruits. For example, all kinds of different elements like electricity, fire, ice, earth and water, transformations to different animals.” Ryujin said.
“Anyway... Somewhere in the mysterious land beyond the Grand Line and New World, there’s a main source of magic. It is crystallized mako formed both naturally and man-made, which calls upon the lifestream to tap into the power of the planet. It is called the Materia, and they are contained in orbs.” Ryujin said.
“I see… So in other words, the pearls formed both naturally and man-made, and they are used for your Atlantean species.” Otohime said.
“Yes. However, there's one final pearl that holds the dark Materia that can make one person into a sea monster. It’s called… the Dark Pearl.” Ryujin said. “When someone uses it, he or she’s consumed by hatred and anger, and is out of control and has the thirst of destruction.”
“That’s awful… I won’t let that happen if someone is going to use it.” Otohime said.
“But fear not, Otohime. My descendants were aware of that after the sorceress told them about that dangerous pearl which has evil powers, so they’re hiding in the secret underground chamber, so nobody will ever take it.” Ryujin said. “My wife, and even my people know that.”
“It was a wise decision. Just as I expected from the Atlanteans who shared their great wisdom.” Otohime said.
“Yes… But let’s change the subject. If you think Aqua is so special, do you think one day when they get older, you think they can be more than just friends?” Ryujin asked.
“Well…” Otohime started as she was blushing. “I was thinking the same thing too. But I believe they can be more than friends. If it does happen, maybe their true love can guide them not just to control Shirahoshi’s powers to summon the Sea Kings, but maybe can soar through the skies and maybe discover the uncharted places above the surface.”
“Soar through the skies? And how, exactly?” Ryujin asked.
“Maybe with a special pearl which has an unusual Materia that can…” Otohime replied before stopped and changes the subject. “Oh, never mind that. But I think they shall find out when they’re older.”
“Yeah, you may be right. But I am sure they can be together someday. Hopefully.” Ryujin said while putting his hands on Otohime’s shoulder while the queen smiled at the Atlantean Sea King.
Then they hear an enchanted voice vocalizing “Ahhh.” It echoes around the Ryugu Palace.
“Aqua…” Ryujin muttered while smiling.
“She has a wonderful voice, hasn’t she?” Otohime asked as Ryujin nodded.
“Yeah.” Ryujin nodded.
It’s from the balcony of the 1st floor, and Ryujin was right; it was Aqua who let her enchanted voice while singing “Part of Your World” while closing her eyes.
While she does, Shirahoshi peeked through the room, and was enchanted by Aqua’s beautiful voice.
“So beautiful…” Shirahoshi whispers, delightedly.

After concluding the song, Aqua takes a deep, but soft sigh, then opens her eyes and smiles.
“Princess Aqua…” Shirahoshi said as Aqua gasped silently and turned around to see a big, but young Mermaid Princess who was amazed, yet happily. “You… You were singing.”
“Uhm, well…” Aqua said as she’s blushing before she focuses on her Growth Hairpin and her body grows into Shirahoshi’s size. “Yeah… Did I bother you?”

“No, not really… It’s just… You had the most… beautiful voice.” Shirahoshi said, which makes Aqua more blushing.
“Thanks… It’s just that I want to sing this song about maybe someday in the future… You, your brothers, your parents, your people, and even your kingdom emigrate to the surface.” Aqua said.
“Really?” Shirahoshi asked as her tail wagged back and forth.
“Yes… And it may give hope and a better future.” Aqua said.
Shirahoshi’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she remembers two years ago after her support for her mother when she’s crying after her people took all of the signatures away.
“Just like I’ve told my mother once…” Shirahoshi muttered.
FLASHBACK
Two years ago, Otohime had once again returned to Ryugu Palace and was cheerfully welcomed back by her children.
However, the queen said that she had felt fatigued from giving speeches all day and just wanted some time alone for a bit. The Neptune Princes reluctantly obliged, but curious Shirahoshi snuck after her mother to hers and Neptune’s bedchamber.
When the young Mermaid Princess peeked through the crack in the door…she found her mother… crying in frustration and despair.
Neptune, who sat on his throne, could only sigh… even though deep down, it saddened him to hear his wife cry.
Shirahoshi, surprised that her father was not coming to comfort Otohime, put on a determined face before she swam over to her… and pulled her into a comforting embrace. Otohime didn’t protest. She hugged her beloved daughter back and continued to sob.
“Oh, Shirahoshi…” Otohime whispered. “I…I just can’t win! Everyone… they took away all their signatures! They said they want me to stop with all the speeches and petitions! They said… we have no future with humans! It… it’s hopeless!”
“…why didn’t you stop them?” asked Shirahoshi with tears of her beginning to well up in her eyes.
“…I don’t know,” Otohime answered, tearfully. “I just… Oh, my baby…! I’m so sorry I let you and your brothers down!”
Even though she wanted to cry along with her mother… the little (yet not so little) princess wiped away her tears and put on a determined face.
“Oh, mother,” Shirahoshi said. “You… you could never let me or Fukaboshi or Ryuboshi or Manboshi down! We love you! We’ll always love you!”
“…really, my little angel?” Otohime asked, hopefully.
“Of course!” Shirahoshi said. “I know you’ll make our future better, Mother! I just know it!”
Otohime smiled and hugged Shirahoshi once more.
“Oh, my precious Shirahoshi,” she said. “You always give me such peace of mind, and hope! I love you so much, my dear!”
“I love you, too, Mother!” Shirahoshi exclaimed.
FLASHBACK ENDED
Back to the present day, Aqua was surprised that Shirahoshi did tell her that she says the same thing to her mother.
“You did tell her that, didn’t you?” Aqua asked, surprised.
“Yes… If anyone can make our future better, it’s my Mother! But now… Now everyone’s giving their signatures to her boxes, my mother’s dream has come true.” Shirahoshi said while having tears in her eyes.
“I’m so happy for your mother, Shirahoshi. And I’m so happy that you and your brothers are standing up for her.” Aqua said.
“Thanks…” Shirahoshi nodded, then wiped her tears from eyes. “Uhm, Princess Aqua… May I ask you something?”
“Yeah, I’m all ears.” Aqua said.
“Since you and your parents give your signatures to my mother, I’m so grateful for that, so I was wondering if you… You…” Shirahoshi started, as she halted to speak, before she took a deep breath, and then… “Will we… become friends?”
Aqua gasped slightly while blushing and eyes widened in disbelief.
“Shirahoshi…” Aqua muttered, then smiled at her. “Of course we will. After all, since we both are Mermaid Princesses of two kingdoms, we’ll always be friends.”
“Y…You mean it…?” Shirahoshi asked, tearfully.
“Yes… I really mean it.” Aqua said.
“Princess Aqua.” A voice came from the Minister of the Left. “I’ve got a message from your mother. She said that it’s time to go back to Atlantis.”
“Oh… Yes, Minister of the Left. I guess it’s time to go home.” Aqua said, disheartened while bent her head down before she slowly swims inside.

Shirahoshi’s eyes widened in confusion; Aqua and her family shall leave already? After four days they've visited and given their signatures to her mother’s donation and stayed with them to keep company after they are welcomed here.
And now they’re going home? This is not fair… Shirahoshi doesn't want to say goodbye to Aqua and her family.
“Princess Aqua…” Shirahoshi whispered, sniffling.
Later at the island’s Port Town, the Ryujin Family has packed up their bags on a huge seashell chariot… and they are ready to go back to Atlantis. After having a great vacation, discussion about the future of both Fish-Man Island and Atlantis, and it’s time for them to go.

“I wish you good luck for more donations, Otohime. And make sure your sons grow up to be warriors.” Athena said.
“Thank you, Athena. And thank you for visiting us.” Otohime said.
Ryujin and Neptune pat their shoulders to each other.
“You’re always welcome to the Ryugu Kingdom anytime you want, Ryuichi.” Neptune said.
“My humble thanks, my old friend.” Ryujin said.
Aqua and Fukaboshi shook their hands.
“It’s a great pleasure to meet you, Princess Aqua. We'll be looking forward to seeing you again someday.” Fukaboshi said.
“Yeah, so am I, Prince Fukaboshi.” Aqua said.
However, one didn’t seem very eager to let them go.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAHH~!!” Shirahoshi sobbed, “Princess Aqua, are you and your mother & father really going to leave now?! We just became friends today! Stay here at least one more day! No, a week! No! Just one more year! PLEASE?!”
“Shirahoshi…” Otohime whispered, sadly.
Athena, Neptune and Ryujin looked at Shirahoshi who’s crying and doesn't want Aqua and her family to leave already.
“Oh, Shirahoshi…” Aqua starts as she focuses on her Growth Hairpin and her body grows into Shirahoshi’s size once again. “I would like to stay here any longer, but… It’s just… I need to learn more to have duties and responsibilities as the Mermaid Princess of Atlantis.”
“And so will you too. “Aqua said as she gently put her hands on Shirahoshi’s shoulders.
“But, this is not goodbye forever… I will always want to meet you again.” Aqua said.
“Me too…” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling. “But I just wish that you’ll stay with me.”
“I wish the same thing too…” Aqua said.
Ryujin and Athena were a bit surprised, but smiles as she speaks with her wisdom at her child age about Aqua meeting Shirahoshi again.
“I don’t know when we’ll come back, but someday I will.” Aqua said.
“Yeah… Me too.” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling, as Aqua gently wiped her tears with her finger.
“And one more thing I have to say before I leave, all residents of Fish-Man Island. Our kingdoms may be distant apart, but we are one. No matter how far away from each other, Ryugu Kingdom will be part of Atlantis’ world as Atlantis Kingdom is part of your world!” Aqua said.
When she spoke about how they are one, and both kingdoms are part of the world that they belong to, everyone was shocked to hear it, but then they let their loud cheers out.
Otohime, Neptune, Athena and Ryujin exchange a joyful look after their kingdoms are connected.
“Aqua.” Ryujin muttered, proudly.
As for Neptune Princes, they smiled at Aqua, and nodded to approve her speech.
“Part of our world…” Fukaboshi whispered.
Shirahoshi put her hand on her mouth, while whispering tearfully. “Princess Aqua…”
She held out her pinky finger to Aqua and asked. “...Promise? That we shall meet again… Someday?”
“Yes… I promise.” Aqua said as she held out her pinky finger and held Shirahoshi’s pinky.
Pinky swear is a traditional gesture most commonly practiced amongst children involving the locking of the pinkies of two people to signify that a promise has been made.
Shirahoshi is so touched that not just keeping a promise, but seeing Aqua intertwining her pinky finger with her pinky. Without thinking, she thought holding a pinky finger wasn’t enough, so Shirahoshi threw herself at Aqua and hugged her.
“Thank you… Princess Aqua. I like you a lot!” Shirahoshi whispered, tearfully.
Aqua hugged, wrapped her arms around Shirahoshi’s back, and whispered. “You’re welcome. I like you, too… And I’ll never forget you!”
“Aqua! Come on, let’s go!” Coral, on Athena’s shoulder, called.
Aqua nodded, before she clasps Shirahoshi’s hands while smiling before letting go and floats back to the seashell chariot while she’s focusing on her Growth Hairpin to make her shrinks back to her regular size again.
And so, the Ryujin Family finally took their leave, letting Shirahoshi, Neptune Princes, King Neptune, Queen Otohime, and all of the people of Fish-Man Island wave goodbye to them.
“Otohime… I hope we’ll see them visit us… on another day.” Neptune said.
“So am I.” Otohime nodded, before she looked at Shirahoshi who held her pinky to her heart.
“Shirahoshi… Are you okay?” Otohime asked as she approached her daughter and patted her tail.
“Mother… I miss them already.” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling.
“Shh, shh. I'm here. I'm here.” Otohime shushed gently, before she started to sing.

Otohime:

Otohime reaches her palm to let Shirahoshi hold her hand with her pointed finger, and then the queen rubs her finger to comfort her.
Otohime:

I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don't you cry♫
Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Mamboshi and Neptunes looked at Otohime who sings for Shirahoshi and smiled at her.
Meanwhile, at the tunnel with colorful crystals, Aqua looked a bit sad as she looked at the exit, and was missing Shirahoshi already.
Solo Male Singer:
♫For one so young, you seem so strong♫
Athena, who sat besides Aqua, rubs her daughter’s shoulder to comfort her.
Solo Male Singer:
♫My arms will hold you keep you safe and warm♫
Athena lifted Aqua carefully, and put her on her laps and stroked her hair gently. Aqua smiles at her mother who gives her smile back at her.
Solo Male Singer:
This bond between us can't be broken,
I will be here, don't you cry♫
As they’re now outside the tunnel, Athena slowly gives Aqua a mother hug, while her big breasts squish carefully against her daughter’s body. Ryujin looked tenderly at the mother and daughter moment as Coral rested on his left shoulder.

yes you'll be in my heart
From this day on now and forevermore♫
While Aqua looked at her mother, the scene transited into Shirahoshi looking at Otohime in her room.
Shirahoshi lays down on her bed while Otohime rubs her forehead, and kisses her cheek.
And then Otohime held up her pinkie finger. A young Mermaid Princess smiled before she touched their mother’s pinkie with hers.

No matter what they say♫
Back to the large seashell chariot which is still kept pulled by three orcas, Aqua rests on Athena’s large bosoms while her mother rubs her daughter’s back and kisses her forehead as they are over the beautiful landscape of coral while they hear a distant wailing from the pod of humpback whales.

And here it is, the second chapter of Aqua Mermaid Princess of Atlantis.
This story tells about King Ryujin and his family visited Fish-Man Island, and he's an old friend to King Neptune. And this is how Aqua met Shirahoshi, the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, as the youngest of King Neptune's children and the only daughter in the Neptune royal family.
Also, the events in this chapter happened in One Piece Episode 546 and Chapter 626 is about Otohime's goal of joining the humans comes to fruition.
And then she explains Shirahoshi's ability to her sons.
Otohime and Ryujin discussed the magical pearls and hairpins which are created by the ancient purehearted mermaid sorceress and then talked about Aqua and Shirahoshi can be together when they are older with their true love power.
Speaking of Ryujin, at the beginning of this chapter, he shows a young Aqua the kingdom of Atlantis, Odyssey Kingdom where all humans lived and explains to him the responsibilities of queenship and the "circle of life", which connects all living things.
Yes, I know, I know, I was inspired by Disney's The Lion King (1994), so I added that part when Aqua is 8 years old.

Eight years later, Aqua is now eight years old, and has grown into a young mermaid. She lays down on the bed on her belly, and looks at the morning sun reflection on the surface through the window.
She sighed contentedly and said. “It’s so beautiful out there… Sunshine in the morning.”
Then a pink amphibian leaps into Aqua’s back, which surprises the little mermaid. She turned her head, and it’s Coral, a seven-year-old saltwater axolotl, and she’s Aqua’s best friend since three years ago.
“You awake, Aqua?” Coral asked as she's climbing into Aqua’s shoulder.
“Hahaha, what do you think, Coral?” Aqua laughed playfully as she hugged Holly.
Behind Aqua’s door, Ryujin and Athena peeks through the door, and smiles that their daughter wakes up earlier.
“Hmhmhm… Your daughter is awake.” Athena chuckles.
“Before sunrise, he's YOUR daughter.” Ryujin joked as Athena chuckles.
Then Ryujin opened the door gently and greets, “Good morning, Aqua.”
Aqua heard his father’s voice and looked at him. “Good morning, dad!”
“It seems like you woke up earlier this morning.” Ryujin said.
“Yeah, because I’m excited that you’re going to show me something today as you promised.” Aqua said.
“Hehehehe, I can see that. Shall we?” Ryujin asked as he reached his hand and Aqua already held his hand.
Then they glided out of her room with bubbles around their hips as Coral ran after them.
“Hey, wait, Aqua! Can't I come?” Coral asks as Athena rubs Aqua’s head gently.
“No, Coral. This is between me and dad. He wants to show me about Atlantis. You stay here with mom.” Aqua said as she kept gliding with her father before they reached the exit.
“Oh, golly. I never get to go anywhere with Aqua.” Coral pouted while crossing her arms as Queen Athena chuckles silently and Raki approaches and rubs Coral’s back with his left wing.
“Sorry, Coral. But this is the father and daughter moment. He wants to show her something about the kingdom of Atlantis. So that is why the young princess doesn't want you to spoil the moment between them.” Raki said.
“Yeah, I guess…” Coral pouted.
“Cheer up, young lass, one day Aqua will be queen; then you can swim with her from dawn until dusk.” Raki said as he and Holly walked through the path to the exit.
Athena looked lovely as her daughter and husband glided through the passage and out into the open sea.
A bit later, Aqua and Ryujin were 1,500 meters above Atlantis as the sunrise illuminates the reef and the whole island impressively.
“Look, Aqua. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.” Ryujin said.
“Wow.” Aqua gasped, amazed.
The camera revolves around them, during Ryujin's speech, from a reverse view to a frontal shot.
“A king or a queen's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Aqua, the sun will set on my or your mother’s time here, and will rise with you as the new queen.” Ryujin said.
“And this will all be mine?” Aqua asked.
“Yes. It belongs to no one but will be yours to protect. A great responsibility.” Ryujin replied as he’s looking at the reef.
“Everything the light touches…” Aqua whispered, amazed as she looked around.
“Even though the shadowy places are beyond our borders, that doesn’t mean we shall not explore there.” Ryujin said as he pointed at the rip-rap canyon to the south.
“You mean… You and your soldiers exploring the uncharted places which are beyond Atlantis?” Aqua asked.
“While others search for what they can take, a true king and queen searches for what they can give… or discover the treasure.” Ryujin replied. “But you have to wait until you’re eighteen.”
“Gosh… Ten years took a long time.” Aqua whispered, amazed.
“Yes, but there are a lot of things you need to learn before you can explore the uncharted locations you want.” Ryujin said as he swam up towards the surface as Aqua followed him behind.
They emerged from the water, and Aqua looked at the sky.
“Pretty… So this is what the real sky looks like. It looks so… endless.” Aqua whispered, amazed, then looked up at the sun. “Wow…! Is this bright circle called a sun?”
“Indeed. The sun is far away beyond the skies. Even though the sun is far away, it is impossible to predict when mankind will be able to construct a vehicle that will be able to fly to the moon.” Ryujin replied, then he looked at the country, far away on the horizon.
“The land over there is where the Atlantean humans lived there. They named their new home as “Odyssey Kingdom”.” Ryujin said as Aqua swims to him.
“So these humans… looks like us… except we have our own tails, and they have legs like Fish-Men, right?” Aqua asked.
“Precisely. They may be different from us, but we Atlanteans lived together as one before you were born. Atlantis was formerly a country island, and we lived together as not just friends… We are family.” Ryujin explained.
“But in the end… Atlantis was sunk to the bottom of the ocean because of the earthquake?” Aqua asked.
“Yes, unfortunately. But even though we have departed, we still have one thing in common; coexistence. Although the other humans are different from their Atlantean counterparts; there are some conflicts between species.” Ryujin said.
“The history of conflict between humans and Fish-men explains the discrimination and racism deeply entrenched in both races. The regular humans often view Fish-men with disgust or fear. This ingrained prejudice created a barrier to understanding and accepting their nature.” Ryujin continues.
“This is not fair…” Aqua whispered sadly.
“Someday, only somewhere will work hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans, and maybe someday, someone will take a stand against the discrimination towards Fish-Men and Merfolk.” Ryujin said.
“What about the Atlantean humans? Shouldn’t they come to visit us?” Aqua asked.
“If only they could. But unfortunately, they don’t have any coating, which is a process in which a ship is coated with special resin from the Hustle Muscle Mangrove, enabling it to sail underwater and survive the crushing depths of the ocean. So I’m afraid they can’t visit Atlantis right now.” Ryujin said as Aqua's lip quiver, then sighed sadly.
“It’s okay, Aqua. We always visited their island every month to see our human friends again.” Ryujin said as Aqua feels a bit better.
“That’s good. Thanks, dad.” Aqua said as she hugged her father’s torso while Ryujin chuckled.
Then Ryujin dives underwater before Aqua glances at the Odyssey Kingdom before she submerges to catch up to her father.
After a while, they swam underwater as they swam through the pods of humpback whales.
“Everything you see exists together, in a delicate balance. As a queen, you need to understand that balance, and respect all the creatures; from a small zooplankton to the large humpback whales.” Ryujin said.
“But, Dad, do we sometimes eat fish, or we just eat food from the humans?” Aqua asked.
“Yes, Aqua, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the seagrass. And the sea turtles and dugongs eat the seagrass.” Ryujin explained as he and Aqua stopped swimming while looking at the great view of the reef.
“And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life…” Ryujin finished.
Out of nowhere Raki swims towards Aqua and Ryujin, and he’s holding a piece of paper on his left wing.
“Your Majesty! I have a letter for you.” Raki greets as he gives the letter to Ryujin.
“A letter? From who?” Aqua asked.
“Hmm, let’s see… ‘Dear King Ryujin of Atlantis. I would like you to visit Ryugu Kingdom. There’s something I would like to show you very important. Signed, Queen Otohime.’ Hmm… Interesting.” Ryujin read.
“Yes, and she wants us to be in Fish-Man, right away!” Raki said.
“Um, Mister Raki, who’s Queen Otohime?” Aqua asked.
“She’s the queen of the Ryugu Kingdom, and the wife of king Neptune. She was an avid supporter of Fish-Men rights and against their mistreatment by humans. Unlike other Fish-Men, she avidly supported the coexistence between Fish-Men and humans.” Raki replied.
“Meaning?” Aqua asked.
“She worked hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans, dreaming of having her people emigrate from the seafloor to the surface, and seeing the real sun.” Raki replied.
“Wow… So, are we…?” Aqua asked.
“Raki, gather all Royal Soldiers! Otohime invited us for a donation. We’re paying Ryugu Kingdom a visit.” Ryujin commanded as Raki saluted.
“Yes, sir! And I’ll watch over Atlantis while you’re gone!” Raki said as he swam off.
“Thanks, and make sure to get things under control!” Ryujin called.
“So, daddy, we’re going all to the Ryugu Kingdom? Where is it?” Aqua asked as she and Ryujin swam off.
“The Ryugu Kingdom is the country that King Neptune rules over. It includes all of Fish-Man Island as well as the surrounding areas.” Ryujin replied.
“Wow… So we’re going to another kingdom? Awesome!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“Yes, Aqua. We are all going to Ryugu Kingdom.” Ryujin chuckles.
“Oh, boy! I can’t wait!” Aqua giggled, excitedly.

Much later on that day, the Ryujin Family, sitting on a huge seashell chariot pulled by a trio of killer whales, were heading to Fish-Man Island.
Aqua, who saw besides Athena, looked out to the beautiful landscape of coral, then she saw various fish swim and seaweed sways gently. Near the ocean floor a blue whale swims with two calves.
“This is beautiful… I’ve never seen a place this closer before.” Aqua whispered, amazed.
“Me neither. I wish my mom and dad would see them too. They would be fascinated to see these corals.” Coral said.
“I think they will. I haven’t been this far before.” Aqua said.
“We’re almost at the tunnel which is connected to Fish-Man Island, Your Majesty!” Atlantis Royal Guard No.1 announced.
“Alright! And in we go!” Ryujin said as they entered the massive tunnel.
As they do, they were looking at the glowing crystals with various colors.
Aqua and Coral were awed to see the glowing crystals in the tunnel, while looking at them in different sizes and colors.
Twelve minutes later, after they went through a tunnel, they reached the exit, and outside, it is revealed that there is a huge island, surrounded by a humongous bubble. The Ryujin Family have reached their destination: Fish-Man Island.
“Dad… Is that-” Aqua started, but Ryujin interrupted.
“Yes. This is Fish-Man Island.” Ryujin said.
“It’s huge!” Coral cried, amazed.
“So where is Queen Otohime’s castle?” Aqua asked.
“Up there above the island. That is Ryugu Castle.” Athena said as she pointed at the Ryugu Castle, which is apparently located in the smaller bubble that sits on top of the main bubble surrounding the island.
“Yeow! It’s very high up!” Aqua cried, stunned.
“How do we ever get up there?” Coral asked.
“It’s simple. All we need to do is to use the Bubbly Coral to make my chariot and orcas float in the air.” Ryujin said.
“Ah, I see.” Coral said.
♫One Piece Film Z - A Decision in One's Life♫
After passing through the Fish-Man Island’s main entrance, the Ryujin Guards activate the Bubbly Coral around the chariot and orcas, they slowly float in the air.
At Gyoverly Hills in the Ryugu Kingdom, the crowd that had gathered to see King Ryujin and Queen Otohime are now chattering amongst themselves.
“Hey, what’s that chariot up there?” asked a Fish-man.
“It can’t be!” Another Fish-Man said.
“It is! It’s King Ryujin and Queen Otohime of Atlantis!” The third Fish-Man cried, amazed.
“What are they doing here?” A mermaid asked.
“They are heading to Ryugu Castle!” “A merman replied.
“Are they going to visit King Neptune and Queen Otohime?”
“Yeah, it seems so.”
Up in the sky, Aqua and Coral gasped amazed and looked down at the bird-eye view of the Fish-Man Island.
“Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life?” Aqua asked.
“Wow, cool! Everyone’s so tiny!” Coral gasped, amazed.
“But I don’t understand, dad. How can it be so bright and sunny down here on Fish-Man Island when we’re 30,000 ft below sea level? I mean it’s under the Red Line, right?” Aqua asked.
“Indeed, my young lady.” Ryujin replied. “It’s not bright because we’re here. This is the only place in the world where light reaches the ocean floor, which is why the ancient ancestors of the Fish-men decided to live here.”
“That is the secret of Fish-Man Island, Aqua.” Queen Athena added. “Queen Otohime and King Neptune explained to us about the roots of the Giant Sun Tree of Eve which reach this place and bring the light from the surface down to them.”

“Sun Tree?” Coral repeated. “You mean there’s a tree that can transfer light 30,000 ft underwater?!”
“That’s right,” Ryujin answered. “The scientists have some complicated theories about it, but, in essence, it is a mystical tree that emits light from the surface. Not only that, but its roots breathe, which allows us to get air from the surface as well.”
“Do you mean it’s like a bigger version of the Yarukiman Mangrove trees on the Sabaody Archipelago, right?” Aqua inquired.
“That’s right,” Ryujin replied. “When the sun shines on the surface, the seafloor is illuminated as well. When night falls there, it grows dark here, too. Thus, we are able to enjoy the blessings of the sun, even in the darkest depths of the sea!”
“The Sun Tree Eve…” Aqua mused. “Just like the Sun Tree Adam back at Atlantis… That’s… incredible.”
“Your Majesty, I’m so nervous. Is it okay for us to go to Ryugu Castle?” Coral asked nervously. “I mean I haven't seen King Neptune or Queen Otohime in person before.”
“Queen Otohime asked us to see us, the Atlantean Merfolk, since she knows our history and coexistence with humans. She and her husband, Neptune, have visited our island twice before you were born, 17 years ago.” Athena replied. “We’ve met them a few times.”
“Few times? I see. You are already friends with them, Your Highness.” Coral said as Athena nodded.
“So rest assured, she welcomed us as fellow merfolk, and she was very delighted about our relationship with our Atlantean human friends.” Athena finished.
“I see. I hope she and her family don't mind about Aqua’s magical hairpin.” Coral said.
“You mean like using this star-shaped hairpin I wear on to make me grow like a giant?” Aqua asked.
“As a demonstration, Aqua? Yes, of course they don’t mind. Neptune is, after all, a giant-sized merman. Anyway, we’re almost at the palace! Look! There’s the entrance right there!” Ryujin said.
The Ryujin Family soon reached a giant bubble. Not one as gigantic as the bubble surrounding the island, but still very humongous. Aqua soon noticed some sort of hole up above.
KLIK! DING-DONG! Ryujin pressed a button, and a bell rang.
“Yes?” said a voice on the intercom.
“It is I, King Ryujin from Atlantis Kingdom,” Ryujin answered.
“K-KING RYUJIN?! You’re here! Queen Otohime expected you in the throne room! H-hang on! I’ll open the passageway, right away!”
SHWOO!! Soon, a Water Road appeared and connected to the entrance.
“Wow, amazing…!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“They opened the passageway for us.” Coral said.
“Ready or not…!” Ryujin started.
And so, the Ryujin Family entered the Water Road, letting the current carry them straight up into the palace.
“Here we go!” Ryujin called.
“I can’t wait to see the palace!” Coral exclaimed.

Soon, the family emerged from the Water Road and came upon an enormous coral palace with a twisting, turning dragon statue on the top.
“WOW~!! It’s huge!” Aqua cried.
“Yup.” Ryujin said. “That’s the Ryugu Palace!”
“It’s beautiful!” Coral added.
“King Ryujin and his family have arrived!”
“Open the gate!”
RRRRRRMMB!! The palace gates opened, and the group soon entered a huge corridor, lined with Neptune Army’s guards at both sides.
“Welcome to Ryugu Palace, King Ryujin!”
“Wow… Even the corridor is huge too!” Aqua gasped, amazed.
“Yeah, no kidding. Even this whole place is filled with water.” Coral agreed.
“Your Majesty, Ryujin of Atlantis. Queen Otohime expected you at the throne room.” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.1 announced while saluted.
“Good, and I was expecting to see the sea god himself, Neptune.” Ryujin said.
“Yes, sir.” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.1 nodded.
At the throne room, a giant merman, who sits on his throne chair, with an orange beard and long, curly orange hair, and his body is hairy all over. His nose is red and he has blue eyes. He has matching black tattoos, which look like a spiral with wavy protrusion designs around it, on both arms.
Upon his head is a golden crown that resembles a tulip with pearls embedded in it.
He is the great God of the Sea, King Neptune of Ryugu Kingdom, a Coelacanth Merman.
Besides him, there’s a mermaid who is the wife of King Neptune, Queen Otohime.
Unlike her husband, Otohime was a regular human-sized Goldfish Mermaid. She had golden-blonde hair that was partially held up in two loops, and her hair was held by an orange hairpiece in the shape of a steering wheel, and she has beautiful emerald eyes, as well as pink lipstick.
She wore a very long, white kimono with a cream-colored carp-scale design along the hem and a sash around her shoulders that floated behind her head much like her children do. Also, although it couldn’t really be seen through her robes, it appeared her tail had split in two, so it appeared that she was at least in her thirties.
“King Neptune! Queen Otohime! The Ryujin Family has arrived as we speak!” Neptune Army’s Soldier No.2 called after he stopped in front of them.
“That’s wonderful. Bring them in here. I just want to tell them some wonderful news.” Otohime said as she looked up to her husband. “Neptune, I know it’s been 17 years since we saw them back at Atlantis, but we finally can see them again.”
“Indeed, Otohime. But it’s been a long time since I saw Ryujin when he was 18 years old. Like yesterday, he was a fun-loving, adventurous prince, jamon. But now… he’s the king. I wonder how much he has grown now.” Neptune said.
“Yes, especially his lovely wife, Athena.” Otohime said, then let her soft sigh. “Atlanteans have their special bond with their support and friendship and harmony. That’s why I’ll do my best to form our bond with humans too.”
“Mm-hmm, they are such special people with no discrimination, jamon.” Neptune agreed.
“Your Majesty. You already know that Atlantis has sunk to the bottom of the ocean after the earth crust has shifted and caused a powerful earthquake.” The Minister of the Right, a seahorse merman, said.
“But good thing that their fortune-teller Aurora who predicted before the earthquake strikes the island, and everyone’s life has not been lost. Such relief, isn’t it?” The Minister of the Left, a catfish merman said.
“Mother! Father!” A voice came from the trio of Neptune Princes.
One of them is Fukaboshi, a shark merman and the eldest son of the royal Neptune Family. The second is Ryuboshi, an oarfish merman and the second son. And the third one is Manboshi, an opah merman and the third son.
They are in their mid-teens.
Behind them, is their younger sister, and she’s bigger than her brother.
She’s six years old, and she wore a light-colored crop top with floating straps.
Her name is Princess Shirahoshi. She's a smelt-whiting mermaid and the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, as the youngest of King Neptune's children and the only daughter in the Neptune royal family.
“Is it true the Ryujin royal family is here?” Fukaboshi asked.
“The real Atlanteans are here?” Ryuboshi asked, excitedly.
“Yes, my boys. They are here.” Neptune nodded.
“Umm… big brother?” Shirahoshi asked. “What’s an Atlantean?”
“They are merfolk just like us. Some Atlanteans are Fish-Men and humans who lived in peace and harmony.” Mamboshi replied.
“Really…?” Shirahoshi gasped, amazed.

She had never heard of Atlantis until her mother, Otohime, mentioned that when she was five years old. Then she and her brothers heard the royal guards play a fanfare with their trumpets.
One of the royal guards approaches Neptune and Otohime, then coughs before he speaks.
“Behold the King and Queen with their daughter from the kingdom of Atlantis! His royal majesty, King Ryujin! Her glorious highness, Queen Athena. And Princess Aqua!” The royal guard announced before steps aside.

RRRRRRMMB!! The throne room’s door opened, and King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Aqua with Coral entered dramatically swimming forward to wild cheering. Sparks shoot from Ryujin’s trident and light a chandelier.
The Neptune princes and Shirahoshi gasped in amazement.
“Amazing-so-la-ti-do!” Ryuboshi said while ending his sentences by singing part of a musical scale.
“Yeah.” Fukaboshi nodded.
Shirahoshi was awed to see the Atlantean Merfolk enter the throne room and stopped in front of the giant sized King Neptune.
“It’s been a while, King Neptune.” King Ryujin said as he bows.
Neptune was even more surprised to see his old friend had grown; he’s now a well-muscled merman and now is 3 meters tall. Overjoyed, he rises up from his throne chair.

“RYUICHI! HOHOHO!” Neptune laughed. “Ryuichi, my old boy. Look how grown you are! How's your reign of Atlantis so far, jamon?”
“As usual, it’s going very marvelous. And I see you’re doing just fine as well.” Ryujin said as he shook his hand with Neptune.
“Indeed I am, my old friend.” Neptune said.
“Queen Otohime, it’s been too long!” Athena greets happily as she and Otohime clasp their hands.
“Oh, I’m so glad to see you too. I've missed you.” Otohime said, and noticed Athena’s curvy body. “And… Your body seems to be voluptuous.”
“Hehehe, you can say that again.” Athena laughed as King Ryujin looked at Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Manboshi and Shirahoshi.
“Oh, by the way, Neptune. Aren’t these children of yours?” Ryujin asked.
“HOHOHO! Yes, they are my and Otohime's children.” Neptune laughed. “Now introduce yourselves, my children.”
“The name’s Fukaboshi. Nice to meet you, Your Majesty.” Fukaboshi said as he bows.
“Pleasure to meet you, Prince Fukaboshi.” King Ryujin said.
“I’m Ryuboshi, so-la-ti-do!” Ryuboshi said.
“And my name is Mamboshi! Ooh, mambo!” Mamboshi introduced while showing his dance.
“Pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Princes Ryuboshi and Mamboshi.” Queen Athena said.

“And this is my baby daughter, Princess Shirahoshi.” Otohime said as Shirahoshi looks a bit timid, but somehow she feels calm when she’s looking at Aqua who looks at her back and blushes.
She has never seen a cute mermaid, even though she's bigger than her big brothers, even her mother.
“Uhm… Nice to meet you, King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Princess Aqua.” Shirahoshi said as she shyly waved her hand at the Ryujin family.
“Pleasure to meet you too, Princess Shirahoshi. My name is Princess Aqua. Call me Aqua, please.” Aqua said as she waved her hand back.
“Your daughter is quite… so big, isn’t she?” Athena asked.
“Yeah, even after her birth, she has quite grown larger. But she’s still so pretty.” Otohime said.
“Aqua, would you mind showing everyone your magical hairpin as a demonstration?” Ryujin asked as Aqua nodded and swam into the middle of the throne room.

A white glow began to emanate from something in her hair, and Shirahoshi noticed a star-shaped hairpin that Aqua was wearing there, and how it was now letting off such a brilliant light.
Soon thereafter, young Aqua began to grow bigger and taller, slowly increasing in scale up and up. This was much to the surprise of Neptune, Otohime, Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Manboshi, Shirahoshi, Minister of the Right, Minister of the Left and the guards who were present.
By the time the glow from Aqua’s hairpin and her growth subsided, Aqua was the same size as Shirahoshi, if not five or so centimeters taller.
“Oh, my…!” Otohime gasped, amazed.
“Well, I’ll be…!” King Neptune muttered, amazed.
“Amazing!” Manboshi and Ryuboshi cried, excitedly.
“Wow… Such magic power…” Fukaboshi muttered, amazed.
Shirahoshi put her hands on her mouth, and gasped amazed. “Incredible, Aqua…!”
“As you can see, this is the Growth Hairpin. It’s a magical hairpin we found that was created by an ancient mermaid sorceress who creates some magical pearls, hairpins, and bracelets that hold different powers for only Atlantean species.” Ryujin explained.
“For example, Aqua can control the Growth Hairpin’s powers and shrink or grow with her own will.” Athena said as the three Neptune sons were pace slowly around Aqua as Shirahoshi was fascinated by the Growth Hairpin’s powers.
“Such outstanding powers. And I think it could be useful when you and your people are up against the giant sea monster, jamon.” Neptune said, amazed.
“Athena, your daughter is so very special.” Otohime said. “I’ve got a feeling that in the future, she’s going to be a great queen one day.”
“Thanks, Otohime. Now then, what do you want to show us?” Athena asked.

“I’m glad that you asked.” Otohime said as she showed the sheet of paper. “A week ago, the World Nobles had a lot of influence on the world and returned with a signature to me.”
“World Nobles?!” Athena gasped. “They are also known as the Celestial Dragons?”
“By the Gods… Do you know that those Celestial Dragons are the aristocratic descendants of nineteen of the First Twenty who established what is now known as the World Government?” Ryujin asked, worriedly.
“Yes, I do know. After a week of convincing, I’ve finally succeeded in calming down the Celestial Dragons, and I’ve brought back with me a sheet of paper which is the ray of hope of the Fish-Man Island.” Otohime said.
“Amazing… You’ve convinced them to discuss forming the coexistence between your people and the regular humans. You’re really a brave queen.” Ryujin said, amazed.
“So that is why I implore you and your family to sign these signatures for my donation as our friends from Atlantis.” Otohime said.
“Otohime…” Athena muttered, surprised.
“Can we, daddy, mommy?” Aqua asked as Athena and Ryujin looked at her. “Can we do it for Queen Otohime, pretty please?”
“Well, my love?” Athena asked.
“Queen Otohime…” Ryujin started as he turned to Queen Otohime. “It would be a great pleasure to sign our donations for you and your kingdom’s future.”
“Thank you.” Otohime said as she bows in front of Ryujin and Athena.
“It’s been a great pleasure to accept my queen’s request, my old friend.” Neptune said. “But anyhow, I thought your brother was with you. Where is he?”
“Oh, Neptune…” Ryujin sighed, and slapped his hand to his face. “I’m afraid he’s not interested in visiting Fish-Man Island.”
As Ryujin talks to Neptune and Otohime, Coral pops out of Aqua’s hair and lands on her shoulder and sighed. “Here they go again. They’re talking about your uncle Skar.”
“Yeah… And he’ll never come with us, especially giving his signature to Queen Otohime.” Aqua sighed.

“Uhm, Princess Aqua, is this little axolotl friend of yours?” Shirahoshi asked.
“Yes, this is my pet, or more likely, my friend Coral.” Aqua said as Coral waved her hand at Shirahoshi, Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi and Manboshi.
“Hi, my friends.” Coral greeted.
“She’s so cute.” Shirahoshi coos.
“Princess Aqua, I mean, Aqua. Does your father have animal friends in Atlantis?” Manboshi asked.
“Yes, Rocky or everybody called him Raki, the rockhopper penguin, is my daddy’s advisor and a poetry writer.” Aqua said.
“A penguin?” Ryuboshi and Mamboshi gasped, surprised as Shirahoshi coos delighted.
“Do you think we expected a crab, maybe?” Fukaboshi jokes.
“Yeah, but I, for one, think penguins are cute.” Ryuboshi said as Mamboshi and Shirahoshi nodded.
“Still, I’m amazed that this axolotl can talk.” Mamboshi said.
“As you can see, all animals in the kingdom of Atlantis are able to speak the human tongue in our way.” Coral said.
“Oh, so that’s why you’re able to talk like us.” Shirahoshi coos, amazed.
“Ah, the world works in strange and sometimes frightening ways, Princess Shirahoshi,” replied Coral. “That's just the way it is. Like anything's possible in the whole world.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Shirahoshi said.
And then a shark came swimming towards Aqua and Coral, and it was wearing a Criminal brand T-shirt.
“SHAA! SHAA!” A shark cried happily.
“MECHOKKU!” Coral cried, shocked and hid behind Aqua’s hair.
“Wow, a shark! And it wears a T-shirt.” Aqua said, amazed.
“This is Neptune Army’s pet, Megalo.” Fukaboshi said.
“Nice to meet you, Megalo. My name is Aqua.” Aqua said as she rubs Megalo’s head gently.
“I have no idea why the Neptune Army has a shark as its pet.” Coral whispered, amazed.
Then Aqua hears Ryujin’s deep sigh and looks at him.
“I just don't know what we're going to do with Skar, Neptune.” Ryujin sighed. “He’s not interested in either the Odyssey Kingdom or humans, or even our parties. He’s always left alone and isolated himself in his room.”
“We didn't see him at the presentation of Aqua when she was born.” Athena said. “I just don’t know what’s gotten into him.”
“Hmmm…” Neptune hummed. “It seems like Skar’s always avoiding you and your family for his own reasons when it comes to humans. I guess he’s not interested in the Ryugu Kingdom either. What a shame, jamon…”
“Oh, brother,” the Minister of the Left said.
“Honestly, somebody's got to nail that man's fins to the floor,” the Minister of the Right said.
“Ryujin, even though you haven’t tried to change him, he's your brother.” Otohime said.
“Mm-hmm. Yeah, you’re probably right, Otohime.” Ryujin said.

Much later at Shirahoshi’s room, Aqua explained everything about the history of Atlantis. Shirahoshi and the Neptune Princes were listening very carefully.
Otohime and Athena stood at the door while watching Aqua telling the story.
“Your daughter is so gifted. She has knowledge about the Atlantis Kingdom's history.” Otohime said.
“Yes… This morning, Ryujin shows our young Aqua the kingdom and explains to her the responsibilities of queenship and the "circle of life", which connects all living things.” Athena said.
“Then, he shows her about the Atlantean Humans who lived in their new country, Odyssey Kingdom. The humans haven’t explored the land outside their city yet. There are lots of places to explore and learn.” Athena said.
“Oh, at times like this I wish I shall visit the Odyssey Kingdom someday too. But I can’t… I still worked hard for union and peace between Fish-Men plus Merfolk and Humans. And I always wished that my people would emigrate from the seafloor to the surface.” Otohime said.
“Yes, and Ryujin always wished somehow that our island would emerge back to the surface again… If only a miracle could happen.” Athena said.
“Then don’t give up on his dream. There’s after all a hope for your kingdom. And my people, even my children and my husband will always support you, Atlanteans.” Otohime said as she clasped Athena’s hands.
“Thank you, Otohime. You’re a wonderful friend.” Athena said as Otohime nodded.
Later, in Conchorde Plaza, Otohime had once again gathered her subjects around, holding up the piece of paper she had brought home with her in her hand. According to her, it was revealed to be a statement… from a World Noble. The statement seemed to have a great impact at the Reverie, the Conference of Kings.
Aqua, King Ryujin, Queen Athena and Coral are already putting their sheets of paper in the petition box.
“People of Fish-Man Island!” Otohime began, “The World Nobles are very influential in the World Summit - the Summit of Kings.”
She raises her hand while holding the sheet of paper. “Listen to what they wrote; “I, too, approve of friendship between Fish-Men, merfolk, and humans, as stated in the petition.” In other words, if we were to present lots of signatures at the Reverie, this one piece of parchment could make our dreams a reality! Then, we could all emigrate!”
The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves.
“Can it be true?”
“The signature of a Celestial Dragon will make it happen!?”
“I’m not sure if I can believe that.”
“All we need now is as many of your signatures as possible,” Otohime said. “It’s all up to you. Please…show me your willingness to live with the humans. Show me your willingness to immigrate to the surface!”
A pause…but no one seemed to step forward. Otohime looked at her subjects, who all looked back at her. Then… she sighed, hanging her head in defeat.
“I… I suppose it’s all for nothing,” she thought.
Aqua looks sadly at King Ryujin and Queen Athena who leans their head down, hopelessly and closes their eyes, then she sighs sadly. “Queen Otohime…”
Suddenly, Otohime looked up and saw many of the children, amongst them a younger Camie and Pappug rushing up to the petition box and putting in sheets of paper, all with signatures.
Otohime smiled at the children and said, “Oh, children… You always give me such hope. You’re not going to ask for it back later, are you?”

“Nuh-uh!” A young merman answered. “And my father’s signature is in there, too, and my Mom’s!”
“My Mom said she’ll sign, too!” said a young Fishboy.
“My dad will sign, too!” A young mermaid said.
“And here’s mine and Pappug’s signature!” Camie said as she put in another sheet of paper.
“W…what?” Otohime asked, surprised.
Just then, more Fish-men and merfolk started to come up…and put more signatures in the box!
“Here! Here’s my signature!”
“And mine!”
“Here’s mine!”
“Don’t forget mine! Oh! And my brother's there, too!”
“Here you go!”
“Here’s mine and my sisters’ signatures!”
Otohime stared in disbelief as the box began to fill up more and more.
“Hey! Wait your turn!”
“Get in line, like everyone else!”
“Oops! Excuse me! Was that your foot? I was in a bit of a rush to get my signature there!”
“Don’t shove, please!”
Otohime gasped silently as she put her hands over her mouth in surprise.
“Hey, Queen Otohime! You’re gonna need a bigger box!”
“Yeah! Don’t you know how many people live on this island?”
“He’s right, you know! Not everyone’s signatures will fit in one little box!”
“W…what…?!” Otohime whispered…tears beginning to form in her eyes.
Just then, the Neptune Soldiers appeared, carrying an even bigger box.
“Coming through!” the Minister of the Right exclaimed. “Here, everyone! Please put your signatures in this box!” He then looked at a tearful Otohime and smiled.
“Your Majesty, this is no time for tears!” he said. “Why don’t you go and rest for a moment?”
“But… I…” Otohime began, but she was so overjoyed, she couldn’t get her words out.
“May I speak?” Athena asked as Otohime nodded.
“If you really do approve of Her Majesty, Queen Otohime’s passion,” Queen Athena shouted, “THEN STEP FORWARD AND BRING US ALL YOUR SIGNATURES!!”
The crowd burst into cheers and began to bring up their signatures and put them in the box. The Minister of the Left then came and took the crying Otohime away to rest.
Neptune, who happened to be watching nearby in case things got out of hand, sniffled and wiped his nose, happy for his wife’s triumph.
The Neptune Princes and Shirahoshi gave their mother a big congratulatory hug.
Aqua joined in and hugged Otohime to congratulate her.
“You did it, Otohime! I’m so happy for you.” Aqua said.
“Thank you… Aqua.” Otohime said as she hugged her back.
At long last, after seven long years, Otohime’s trials and tribulations had finally come true… and all her subjects and her children loved her.
People from all over the kingdom gather at the plaza with their signatures in hand, day after day, nonstop.
May 16th, 1524
Four days later, at Ryugu Palace, Otohime is speaking with her sons. She was outside, perched on the balcony railing, facing the Neptune Princes, and King Ryujin who leaned to the wall while crossing his arms and smiling at her.
“Mother! Signatures keep coming in from all over the country!” Mamboshi said.
“It’s going well, isn’t it?” Fukaboshi asked.
“Yes, it’s like a dream.” Otohime nodded.
“It’s because of your courage.” Ryuboshi said as Otohime chuckled.
“Courage? At that moment,” Otohime said, “I felt a surge of courage. I just knew this island could really change for the better!”
“At what moment, Mother?” Fukaboshi asked.
“When the Sea Kings came to the island,” said Otohime.
“Oh, that!” Manboshi said. “Yes, that was a real surprise, wasn’t it?!”
“The Sea Kings? How did this happen, Queen Otohime?” King Ryujin asked.
“…Shirahoshi summoned them,” Otohime said, simply.
“SHIRAHOSHI?!?” the Neptune Princes questioned in shock.

“What? She summoned the Sea Kings? How?” Ryujin asked in shock.
Otohime nodded her head before she turned and held out her hand to a couple of little fish.
“We Fish-Men and merfolk take our ability of talking to the fishes for granted,” she said, “but none of us can speak to the Sea Kings. Even your father, who alone can communicate with whales, is unable to do so.” She then turned back to the Princes.
“But, according to a legend passed down in the royal family,” she explained, “a mermaid who can communicate with the Sea King…is born once every few hundred years.”
The Neptune Princes and Ryujin gasped.
“You mean after the former Mermaid Princess of Ryugu Kingdom, right?” Ryujin asked as Otohime nodded.
“A mermaid who can communicate with those gigantic beasts?!” asked Fukaboshi.
“And you’re telling us that it’s Shirahoshi, Mother?!” Manboshi asked.
“That’s amazing!” Ryuboshi cried. “I’ve always wanted to ride a Sea King! Maybe I’ll have Shirahoshi summon one of them for me!”
“If your mother may continue, young Prince Ryuboshi,” Ryujin said, smiling at Ryuboshi’s enthusiasm.
“Oops! Sorry, King Ryujin,” Ryuboshi said. “Please continue, Mother.”
“Thank you,” Otohime said. “Now, along with that special mermaid will come one who can guide her to use her power for good, and when that time comes, the world shall change! That’s what the legend says.”
“The world will change, you say?!” asked Manboshi.
“Yes,” Otohime said, “and that means that this island will change, as well.”
“Then we hope it will be a great help to you, Mother!” said Ryuboshi.
“Yes, I’m sure it will,” Otohime said. “The power of love can save a great many when used correctly…but…”
“But?” Fukaboshi repeated.
“…if used maliciously,” Otohime began, “then it could be entirely catastrophic for the world. It is a formidable power that can be utterly destructive. I’m afraid that your sister is… completely unaware of this power for the time being. Not only that… but she cannot control it, either. If anything truly traumatic should happen to Shirahoshi… I’m afraid she might unwittingly cause the Sea Kings to run amok.”
“What?!” Manboshi questioned in surprise.
“If that were to happen, Fishman Island would be flattened like a pancake!” Ryuboshi exclaimed. “What should we do if something like that happened, Mother?!”
“Don’t worry! I’ll take care of that,” Otohime said. “For now, we are all safe.” She then turned and looked at her sons.
“That is why three of you, my sons, must grow up to be brave warriors,” she told them. “As both her brothers and her defenders… you must protect Shirahoshi with your very lives.”
“We will, Mother!” the Princes declared. “For sure!!”
Otohime chuckled, and said “Thank you.”
As the Neptune princes went inside the palace, Ryujin is still with Otohime.

“Otohime… I am sure your sons are going to be great warriors, and maybe great kings one day, just like their father.” Ryujin said.
“Yeah, you might say that again, Ryujin.” Otohime said.
“And I’m surprised that Shirahoshi possesses that kind of power to summon the Sea Kings. Do you think she’s able to control them when she’s getting older?” Ryujin asked.
“Yes, and I’m sure that my husband and sons will help her to control them.” Otohime replied.
“Otohime, there’s something I’ll have to tell you.” Ryujin said.
“What is it? Is it about Aqua?” Otohime asked.
“Yes… She’s my special treasure. I’ve taught her that my time as a ruler has come to an end one day, and Aqua shall arise as a new queen of Atlantis.” Ryujin said.
“I see… In other words, you're stepping down as the king.” Otohime said.
“Yes, but there are lots of things she needs to learn and waiting until the time has come. If she reaches adulthood, someday she’ll find someone so special. Someone who will take care of Aqua when she’s a queen. But I don’t want to force her to marry someone she doesn’t know. I let her decide to make her own choices.” Ryujin said.

“Yeah… You’re probably right. And it seems like Shirahoshi really likes her.” Otohime said.
“She does?” Ryujin asked as his eyes widened in surprise. “I guess she’s a princess after all.”
“Yeah, she told me that Aqua’s story about Atlantis was beyond the fairy tale, even though she knew it existed even though it sank to the seafloor.” Otohime said.
“Is it that obvious?” Ryujin said while smiling at her. “Every story she told was true. And I think she likes Shirahoshi too. I have never seen her so happy to be with another princess.”
“Me neither, and neither is Neptune. We’re so happy to see your daughter keep Shirahoshi company.” Otohime said.
“Yeah, that’s because of her magical Growth Hairpin.” Ryujin said.
“It could be handy when your daughter matches my daughter’s size. I’ll give my thanks to the ancient mermaid sorceress for making that hairpin.” Otohime said.
“The hairpin is not the only thing she makes.” Ryujin said. “She also made magical pearls for 70 years.”
“70 years? She really has a lot of hard work to do.” Otohime said.
“Yup. She studied pearls when she's 20 years old. To make Atlantean species like humans, fish-men and merfolk powerful to protect Atlantis, the sorceress fused the pearls with different magical powers that rival the Devil Fruit's powers.” Ryujin explained.
“Unlike the Devil Fruit users who are susceptible to all types of water, not just seawater, whoever uses the magical pearls doesn’t have a weakness against any kind of water, and can’t sink like a hammer.” He continued.
“So it has no weakness just like Devil Fruits, huh? Those pearls could be useful for my people too, someday.” Otohime said, amazed.
“Yeah, and they have some of the same powers from Devil Fruits. For example, all kinds of different elements like electricity, fire, ice, earth and water, transformations to different animals.” Ryujin said.
“Anyway... Somewhere in the mysterious land beyond the Grand Line and New World, there’s a main source of magic. It is crystallized mako formed both naturally and man-made, which calls upon the lifestream to tap into the power of the planet. It is called the Materia, and they are contained in orbs.” Ryujin said.
“I see… So in other words, the pearls formed both naturally and man-made, and they are used for your Atlantean species.” Otohime said.
“Yes. However, there's one final pearl that holds the dark Materia that can make one person into a sea monster. It’s called… the Dark Pearl.” Ryujin said. “When someone uses it, he or she’s consumed by hatred and anger, and is out of control and has the thirst of destruction.”
“That’s awful… I won’t let that happen if someone is going to use it.” Otohime said.
“But fear not, Otohime. My descendants were aware of that after the sorceress told them about that dangerous pearl which has evil powers, so they’re hiding in the secret underground chamber, so nobody will ever take it.” Ryujin said. “My wife, and even my people know that.”
“It was a wise decision. Just as I expected from the Atlanteans who shared their great wisdom.” Otohime said.
“Yes… But let’s change the subject. If you think Aqua is so special, do you think one day when they get older, you think they can be more than just friends?” Ryujin asked.
“Well…” Otohime started as she was blushing. “I was thinking the same thing too. But I believe they can be more than friends. If it does happen, maybe their true love can guide them not just to control Shirahoshi’s powers to summon the Sea Kings, but maybe can soar through the skies and maybe discover the uncharted places above the surface.”
“Soar through the skies? And how, exactly?” Ryujin asked.
“Maybe with a special pearl which has an unusual Materia that can…” Otohime replied before stopped and changes the subject. “Oh, never mind that. But I think they shall find out when they’re older.”
“Yeah, you may be right. But I am sure they can be together someday. Hopefully.” Ryujin said while putting his hands on Otohime’s shoulder while the queen smiled at the Atlantean Sea King.
Then they hear an enchanted voice vocalizing “Ahhh.” It echoes around the Ryugu Palace.
“Aqua…” Ryujin muttered while smiling.
“She has a wonderful voice, hasn’t she?” Otohime asked as Ryujin nodded.
“Yeah.” Ryujin nodded.
It’s from the balcony of the 1st floor, and Ryujin was right; it was Aqua who let her enchanted voice while singing “Part of Your World” while closing her eyes.
While she does, Shirahoshi peeked through the room, and was enchanted by Aqua’s beautiful voice.
“So beautiful…” Shirahoshi whispers, delightedly.
Aqua:
♫Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Out of the sea,
wish I could be
part of that... world♫
After concluding the song, Aqua takes a deep, but soft sigh, then opens her eyes and smiles.
“Princess Aqua…” Shirahoshi said as Aqua gasped silently and turned around to see a big, but young Mermaid Princess who was amazed, yet happily. “You… You were singing.”
“Uhm, well…” Aqua said as she’s blushing before she focuses on her Growth Hairpin and her body grows into Shirahoshi’s size. “Yeah… Did I bother you?”

“No, not really… It’s just… You had the most… beautiful voice.” Shirahoshi said, which makes Aqua more blushing.
“Thanks… It’s just that I want to sing this song about maybe someday in the future… You, your brothers, your parents, your people, and even your kingdom emigrate to the surface.” Aqua said.
“Really?” Shirahoshi asked as her tail wagged back and forth.
“Yes… And it may give hope and a better future.” Aqua said.
Shirahoshi’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she remembers two years ago after her support for her mother when she’s crying after her people took all of the signatures away.
“Just like I’ve told my mother once…” Shirahoshi muttered.
FLASHBACK
Two years ago, Otohime had once again returned to Ryugu Palace and was cheerfully welcomed back by her children.
However, the queen said that she had felt fatigued from giving speeches all day and just wanted some time alone for a bit. The Neptune Princes reluctantly obliged, but curious Shirahoshi snuck after her mother to hers and Neptune’s bedchamber.
When the young Mermaid Princess peeked through the crack in the door…she found her mother… crying in frustration and despair.
Neptune, who sat on his throne, could only sigh… even though deep down, it saddened him to hear his wife cry.
Shirahoshi, surprised that her father was not coming to comfort Otohime, put on a determined face before she swam over to her… and pulled her into a comforting embrace. Otohime didn’t protest. She hugged her beloved daughter back and continued to sob.
“Oh, Shirahoshi…” Otohime whispered. “I…I just can’t win! Everyone… they took away all their signatures! They said they want me to stop with all the speeches and petitions! They said… we have no future with humans! It… it’s hopeless!”
“…why didn’t you stop them?” asked Shirahoshi with tears of her beginning to well up in her eyes.
“…I don’t know,” Otohime answered, tearfully. “I just… Oh, my baby…! I’m so sorry I let you and your brothers down!”
Even though she wanted to cry along with her mother… the little (yet not so little) princess wiped away her tears and put on a determined face.
“Oh, mother,” Shirahoshi said. “You… you could never let me or Fukaboshi or Ryuboshi or Manboshi down! We love you! We’ll always love you!”
“…really, my little angel?” Otohime asked, hopefully.
“Of course!” Shirahoshi said. “I know you’ll make our future better, Mother! I just know it!”
Otohime smiled and hugged Shirahoshi once more.
“Oh, my precious Shirahoshi,” she said. “You always give me such peace of mind, and hope! I love you so much, my dear!”
“I love you, too, Mother!” Shirahoshi exclaimed.
FLASHBACK ENDED
Back to the present day, Aqua was surprised that Shirahoshi did tell her that she says the same thing to her mother.
“You did tell her that, didn’t you?” Aqua asked, surprised.
“Yes… If anyone can make our future better, it’s my Mother! But now… Now everyone’s giving their signatures to her boxes, my mother’s dream has come true.” Shirahoshi said while having tears in her eyes.
“I’m so happy for your mother, Shirahoshi. And I’m so happy that you and your brothers are standing up for her.” Aqua said.
“Thanks…” Shirahoshi nodded, then wiped her tears from eyes. “Uhm, Princess Aqua… May I ask you something?”
“Yeah, I’m all ears.” Aqua said.
“Since you and your parents give your signatures to my mother, I’m so grateful for that, so I was wondering if you… You…” Shirahoshi started, as she halted to speak, before she took a deep breath, and then… “Will we… become friends?”
Aqua gasped slightly while blushing and eyes widened in disbelief.
“Shirahoshi…” Aqua muttered, then smiled at her. “Of course we will. After all, since we both are Mermaid Princesses of two kingdoms, we’ll always be friends.”
“Y…You mean it…?” Shirahoshi asked, tearfully.
“Yes… I really mean it.” Aqua said.
“Princess Aqua.” A voice came from the Minister of the Left. “I’ve got a message from your mother. She said that it’s time to go back to Atlantis.”
“Oh… Yes, Minister of the Left. I guess it’s time to go home.” Aqua said, disheartened while bent her head down before she slowly swims inside.

Shirahoshi’s eyes widened in confusion; Aqua and her family shall leave already? After four days they've visited and given their signatures to her mother’s donation and stayed with them to keep company after they are welcomed here.
And now they’re going home? This is not fair… Shirahoshi doesn't want to say goodbye to Aqua and her family.
“Princess Aqua…” Shirahoshi whispered, sniffling.
Later at the island’s Port Town, the Ryujin Family has packed up their bags on a huge seashell chariot… and they are ready to go back to Atlantis. After having a great vacation, discussion about the future of both Fish-Man Island and Atlantis, and it’s time for them to go.
Athena and Otohime shaking their hands.
“I wish you good luck for more donations, Otohime. And make sure your sons grow up to be warriors.” Athena said.
“Thank you, Athena. And thank you for visiting us.” Otohime said.
Ryujin and Neptune pat their shoulders to each other.
“You’re always welcome to the Ryugu Kingdom anytime you want, Ryuichi.” Neptune said.
“My humble thanks, my old friend.” Ryujin said.
Aqua and Fukaboshi shook their hands.
“It’s a great pleasure to meet you, Princess Aqua. We'll be looking forward to seeing you again someday.” Fukaboshi said.
“Yeah, so am I, Prince Fukaboshi.” Aqua said.
However, one didn’t seem very eager to let them go.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAHH~!!” Shirahoshi sobbed, “Princess Aqua, are you and your mother & father really going to leave now?! We just became friends today! Stay here at least one more day! No, a week! No! Just one more year! PLEASE?!”
“Shirahoshi…” Otohime whispered, sadly.
Athena, Neptune and Ryujin looked at Shirahoshi who’s crying and doesn't want Aqua and her family to leave already.
“Oh, Shirahoshi…” Aqua starts as she focuses on her Growth Hairpin and her body grows into Shirahoshi’s size once again. “I would like to stay here any longer, but… It’s just… I need to learn more to have duties and responsibilities as the Mermaid Princess of Atlantis.”
“And so will you too. “Aqua said as she gently put her hands on Shirahoshi’s shoulders.
“But, this is not goodbye forever… I will always want to meet you again.” Aqua said.
“Me too…” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling. “But I just wish that you’ll stay with me.”
“I wish the same thing too…” Aqua said.
Ryujin and Athena were a bit surprised, but smiles as she speaks with her wisdom at her child age about Aqua meeting Shirahoshi again.
“I don’t know when we’ll come back, but someday I will.” Aqua said.
“Yeah… Me too.” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling, as Aqua gently wiped her tears with her finger.
“And one more thing I have to say before I leave, all residents of Fish-Man Island. Our kingdoms may be distant apart, but we are one. No matter how far away from each other, Ryugu Kingdom will be part of Atlantis’ world as Atlantis Kingdom is part of your world!” Aqua said.
When she spoke about how they are one, and both kingdoms are part of the world that they belong to, everyone was shocked to hear it, but then they let their loud cheers out.
Otohime, Neptune, Athena and Ryujin exchange a joyful look after their kingdoms are connected.
“Aqua.” Ryujin muttered, proudly.
As for Neptune Princes, they smiled at Aqua, and nodded to approve her speech.
“Part of our world…” Fukaboshi whispered.
Shirahoshi put her hand on her mouth, while whispering tearfully. “Princess Aqua…”
She held out her pinky finger to Aqua and asked. “...Promise? That we shall meet again… Someday?”
“Yes… I promise.” Aqua said as she held out her pinky finger and held Shirahoshi’s pinky.
Pinky swear is a traditional gesture most commonly practiced amongst children involving the locking of the pinkies of two people to signify that a promise has been made.
Shirahoshi is so touched that not just keeping a promise, but seeing Aqua intertwining her pinky finger with her pinky. Without thinking, she thought holding a pinky finger wasn’t enough, so Shirahoshi threw herself at Aqua and hugged her.
“Thank you… Princess Aqua. I like you a lot!” Shirahoshi whispered, tearfully.
Aqua hugged, wrapped her arms around Shirahoshi’s back, and whispered. “You’re welcome. I like you, too… And I’ll never forget you!”
“Aqua! Come on, let’s go!” Coral, on Athena’s shoulder, called.
Aqua nodded, before she clasps Shirahoshi’s hands while smiling before letting go and floats back to the seashell chariot while she’s focusing on her Growth Hairpin to make her shrinks back to her regular size again.
And so, the Ryujin Family finally took their leave, letting Shirahoshi, Neptune Princes, King Neptune, Queen Otohime, and all of the people of Fish-Man Island wave goodbye to them.
“Otohime… I hope we’ll see them visit us… on another day.” Neptune said.
“So am I.” Otohime nodded, before she looked at Shirahoshi who held her pinky to her heart.
“Shirahoshi… Are you okay?” Otohime asked as she approached her daughter and patted her tail.
“Mother… I miss them already.” Shirahoshi whimpered, sniffling.
“Shh, shh. I'm here. I'm here.” Otohime shushed gently, before she started to sing.

Otohime:
♫Come stop your crying' it'll be alright♫
Otohime reaches her palm to let Shirahoshi hold her hand with her pointed finger, and then the queen rubs her finger to comfort her.
Otohime:
♫Just take my hand, hold it tight
I will protect you from all around you
I will be here, don't you cry♫
Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Mamboshi and Neptunes looked at Otohime who sings for Shirahoshi and smiled at her.
Meanwhile, at the tunnel with colorful crystals, Aqua looked a bit sad as she looked at the exit, and was missing Shirahoshi already.
Solo Male Singer:
♫For one so young, you seem so strong♫
Athena, who sat besides Aqua, rubs her daughter’s shoulder to comfort her.
Solo Male Singer:
♫My arms will hold you keep you safe and warm♫
Athena lifted Aqua carefully, and put her on her laps and stroked her hair gently. Aqua smiles at her mother who gives her smile back at her.
Solo Male Singer:
This bond between us can't be broken,
I will be here, don't you cry♫
As they’re now outside the tunnel, Athena slowly gives Aqua a mother hug, while her big breasts squish carefully against her daughter’s body. Ryujin looked tenderly at the mother and daughter moment as Coral rested on his left shoulder.
Solo Male Singer:
♫'Cause you'll be in my heart (Chorus: In my heart)
yes you'll be in my heart
From this day on now and forevermore♫
While Aqua looked at her mother, the scene transited into Shirahoshi looking at Otohime in her room.
Shirahoshi lays down on her bed while Otohime rubs her forehead, and kisses her cheek.
And then Otohime held up her pinkie finger. A young Mermaid Princess smiled before she touched their mother’s pinkie with hers.

No matter what they say♫
Back to the large seashell chariot which is still kept pulled by three orcas, Aqua rests on Athena’s large bosoms while her mother rubs her daughter’s back and kisses her forehead as they are over the beautiful landscape of coral while they hear a distant wailing from the pod of humpback whales.

And here it is, the second chapter of Aqua Mermaid Princess of Atlantis.
This story tells about King Ryujin and his family visited Fish-Man Island, and he's an old friend to King Neptune. And this is how Aqua met Shirahoshi, the princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, as the youngest of King Neptune's children and the only daughter in the Neptune royal family.
Also, the events in this chapter happened in One Piece Episode 546 and Chapter 626 is about Otohime's goal of joining the humans comes to fruition.
And then she explains Shirahoshi's ability to her sons.
Otohime and Ryujin discussed the magical pearls and hairpins which are created by the ancient purehearted mermaid sorceress and then talked about Aqua and Shirahoshi can be together when they are older with their true love power.
Speaking of Ryujin, at the beginning of this chapter, he shows a young Aqua the kingdom of Atlantis, Odyssey Kingdom where all humans lived and explains to him the responsibilities of queenship and the "circle of life", which connects all living things.
Yes, I know, I know, I was inspired by Disney's The Lion King (1994), so I added that part when Aqua is 8 years old.
