"There's nothing better than taking to the skies and feel the wind in your hair!"
Faebruary: I am very excited to share this monthlong project with you all! Regular viewers of this channel will know that a lot of my creative focus goes into Kroashent, my ongoing fantasy series. There's a ton of background lore for the series, so I thought it might be fun and helpful to run a little project to introduce to viewers new and old, to the characters and creatures of Kroashent, with a twist!
For the month of February (or rather "Faebruary!" I will be posting drawings of the characters of Kroashent as different creatures from Alvez, their world. To begin, these creatures will be the "Tuath", the sapient, social creatures of the world (think the playable species of D&D). (We'll address the beasties and things that go bump in the night in a future project)
Albert de Tours: The child of a minor Anjevin noble, Albert stole a windship and became a smuggler and blockade runner during the Dock War, a short lived rebellion in the South of Akitania. Eventually, his swashbuckling adventures caught up with him and he was caught by Enora de Chinon. Rather than sending him to prison or to the headsman, she saw his potential and recruited the hotshot pilot to serves as the helmsman of the Radiant Dawn, her personal windship.
Tempestarii: The Tempestarii are an avian Sidhe Tuath resembling harpies. This nomadic people hail from the floating island of Magonia, but spend most of their time traveling aboard windships across the skies. Full of wanderlust, they rarely stay in one place for very long, constantly seeking out new experiences. They are adept at navigating Wyldstorms, massive tempests of pure chaos magic, which has earned them their name of Tempestarii.

Val's Notes: I decided to throw in some TG for Albert, to keep the Faebruary theme on a monstergirl bent, and because it seemed like fun. Albert is very much meant to invoke the swashbuckling flyboy archetype, and add a bit of depth to Enora's circle of allies. The Tempestarii are drawn from a 815 CE religious treatise by a cleric named Agobard of Lyon, whose writings were meant to discredit local folk beliefs of sky-dwelling, storm summoning wizards. Unfortunately, he did a pretty good job of making them sound cool, so they show up in Kroashent. There's no mention of them being harpies, but that seemed like a fun interpretation for these 9th century wizard sky pirates. Redesigning Albert's longcoat for Alberta's wings was a pain though.
