Like in the sci-fi setting, Jessica is a Jesse. A perfect physical specimen and a bit of a himbo. Instead of being used by the Universal University as the basis for a war himbo clone army, fantasy Jesse had the bad luck of being recognized as a strong lad and ideal recruit and was conscripted from his mundane farm life to join the Earl Asani’s uprising against Queen Jasiri.

The uprising went poorly. Earl Asani was executed for crimes against the crown. Jesse wound up captured but the tiger was spared execution when he was sold to a recruiter from the lands of Lord Aard. The recruiter was looking for exciting new fighters for the gladiator games that were all the rage lately.

Jesse thrived. He was a big, beefy guy who followed orders well and knew his way around a sword thanks to his (brief) stint in the (treasonous) army.

That career lasted until he was rescued/stolen by Maggie when some adventure or another brought her to the arena and she needed muscle to fight her way out.

For a while, they became lovers. Not that Maggie was interested in Jesse but she assumed she needed to control him with her sexual wiles. It was unnecessary but appreciated.

Now, the two have become close friends and an effective duo. Maggie the magic and brains, Jesse the muscle. He's just happy to be helpful.
