"There are many small minded fools who say that the power of the Depths is a power best left undisturbed. But how else will we push to find our true potential..."
Faebruary: I am very excited to share this monthlong project with you all! Regular viewers of this channel will know that a lot of my creative focus goes into Kroashent, my ongoing fantasy series. There's a ton of background lore for the series, so I thought it might be fun and helpful to run a little project to introduce to viewers new and old, to the characters and creatures of Kroashent, with a twist!
For the month of February (or rather "Faebruary!" I will be posting drawings of the characters of Kroashent as different creatures from Alvez, their world. To begin, these creatures will be the "Tuath", the sapient, social creatures of the world (think the playable species of D&D). (We'll address the beasties and things that go bump in the night in a future project)
Acrasia Beldam: Malicious and petty, Acrasia thrives on chaos and destruction, using it to further her own magical power. Acrasia has associated herself with bloodthirsty warlords, mad mages and eldritch forces of magic itself, all in the furtherance of her goals, though at present, she acts independently. For reasons unknown, she harbors a particular vendetta against House Bisclavret.
Morgazh: The Morgazh are one of the merfolk Tuath who live in the seas of Alvez. They are mostly found along the Bevenou (the Rim), where the sunny waters of the coastal shallows descend into the abyss beyond. Morgazh society is structured as a military state, with all individuals serving active roles in the protection of their cities from threats of the deep. Few landbound Tuath ever encounter these mysterious creatures.

Val's Notes: Next up is Acrasia Beldam, trading in her foxy look for the tentacles of a Morgazh. Acrasia is one of the antagonists of Kroashent, and it seemed fun to lean into some disney villainy with the Morgazh as her "species" for this event. The Morgazh themselves are fairly far removed from the "Sea witch" trope of the most famous pop culture "octomaid". There's not a lot of octopus in Celtic folklore, and almost none in Breton folk tradition, so I got to invent a lot of details for them, which was fun. Since the Marie-Morgane are formerly terrestrial, I wanted to have a group that was more directly tied to the sea for them to interact with and provide some contrast.
Acrasia's name is inspired by two Fae villains from English Poetry, namely Spenser's 1590 Faerie Queene and Keats' 1819 La Belle Dame Sans Merci.
