"How's the craic? Tis a rare night for a dander along the boreen, hi. I'd wager the front of the road was jest out of what ye seek? Well, ye've come to the right place to form a contract..."
Faebruary: I am very excited to share this monthlong project with you all! Regular viewers of this channel will know that a lot of my creative focus goes into Kroashent, my ongoing fantasy series. There's a ton of background lore for the series, so I thought it might be fun and helpful to run a little project to introduce to viewers new and old, to the characters and creatures of Kroashent, with a twist!
For the month of February (or rather "Faebruary!" I will be posting drawings of the characters of Kroashent as different creatures from Alvez, their world. To begin, these creatures will be the "Tuath", the sapient, social creatures of the world (think the playable species of D&D). (We'll address the beasties and things that go bump in the night in a future project)
Gwaeron "Gwae" Sulime Dethemir: An eladan similherez (spellcaster) from the Fortunate Isles, Gwae aspires to be a merchant, settling among the Bediz on the continent. When a conspiracy lands her on the run in the misty lands of Letha, she hires Kathalia Bisclavret to protect her as a bodygaurd, but soon discovers her own unexpected feelings for the fire-haired thief...
Paolig: The Paolig are feline Sidhe hailing from the Fortunate Isles. Known for their dealmaking, they are also called "crossroads cats", forming contracts to assist their contracted individuals to achieve their goals for a price. When well treated, Paolig are powerful allies and clever manipulators, but their contracts are often arcane and convoluted.

Val's Notes: It made a lot of sense for Gwae, our adorkable merchant to take on the form of a Paolig. In Breton folklore, Paolig (literally "Little Pauls", but more accurately "little devils") are also called money cats, and bring gold to those who treat them well. They fill a very interesting role, bridging the gap between a "crossroads demon" of Western folk tradition, with the "puss in boots" archetype found in the same. Plus, kitty Gwae is adorable.
