"The kingdom of Rodentia is a hardy and stubborn nation with a history full of violence and tragedy, these small rodent folk found themselves surounded by hostile neighboors since they were no more than tribes, the rat folk of rodentia are naturaly small and slim, the adult individuals are the same size of children of other species, this made them naturaly vulnerable to the predations of the barbarians and horrors of the forest,but this was no stop for their stubbornness and will to live, the rat folk of rodentia learned from early times to use their environment at their favor, laying nasty traps, poisons and fire to defeat bigger enemies, as the eras progressed the rodentians became masters of masonry and fortifications to the point that even a simple rodentian farmhouse may take weeks for barbarians to besiege.
The first technological breakthrough that changed Rodentia forever was the invention of crossbows and ballistas, having a reliable ranged arsenal that don't depend on the physical strength of the user directly gave the rodentians the edge they needed to fight back and conquer more land, this era was the first golden age for the Kingdom of the Rodentia, despite never experiencing true peace Rodentia now had space and resources to expand and develop.
The second golden age came when an alliance was struck between Rodentia and the reclusive Mountain Folk who shared their secrets to craft blackpowder, bombs and firearms caused a imense impact on Rodentia, the new technology was embraced wholeheartly, in les than a decade the walls of Rodentia became filled with hundreds of canons of all shapes and sizes, from the army to the humblest farmer everyone has matchlock firearms ready to use at hand, anyone who tries to invade Rodentia's cities now finds under the aim of hundreds of muskets from every window and wall hole available.
But this safety is not to last, Rodentia find itself in turmoil after the death of its beloved king and the malignant forces of the cursed forest are starting to stiring up, the new young queen broke centuries of isolation and xenophobic traditions to accept foreing species in their army to bolster their numbers, she knows darkness is comming and rodentians will need all the help they can get to survive the long night."
