I feel I hardly have to explain this one but just in case, Ding Dong Comics #4, copyright 1947 by Complix Inc, had The Calico Pup venture outside of Calico Town to the adjacent Ding Dong Town where he met a Kangaroo.

In issue #5, Kangaroo returned the favor, visiting Calico Town to try out life there. Picking flowers, bouncing in fields, getting chased by an angry dog, all that. And then they settle down to a nice lunch in the plush town only for the Kangaroo to discover something astounding about what's in the cheese sandwich ... and that being in Calico Town has side effects that you'd think the adjacent communities would know about. Maybe Kangaroo was new to Ding Dong Town.

As far as I can figure out this is the last appearance of The Calico Pup, a shame, because there's a gentle charm to their outings.

Still seems like a bit of a jerk move not to warn their new friend that staying in Calico Town for, really what can't be more than two hours would lead to permanent transformation, though.
