Those boats are tests to see how well your printer can print things. I have a friend that has a 'collection' of those boats, each labeled with the head size/temp and plastic wire used so he knows how smooth/grainy a project using them will come out.
I'd love to get one, but I don't have enough projects to make it worth the cost and learning curve to do it right ...

I never got into 3D printing, but I can relate to this moment. In the late 1990s, I invested in a CD burner, a second hard drive for my PC, and video capture card with editing software. I was excited, for I had grand plans to get into video editing. The card and software's rendering capabilities were NOT as advertised. The CD burner and hard drive came in handy for other purposes, but I wound up sending the capture card to a friend who wanted it for grabbing still images from video.
I am repairing a lot of those 3d printer, well half of those 40, nothing wrong with them, 10 of those easy to stuss out, 9 of those need a part replacement. One, it isn't hard but damaged in the cable, a written off and use the part that need replacement on the other printer. Now the fun bit, how to get rid of them all.
