Of course, I like the idea of Yaya being more of a kanabo swinger than a barehanded sumo wrestler. The idea for her choice of weapon came from the game For Honor. There is a samurai class called the Shugoki (Or Demon/Oni Guardian) that uses both sumo techniques and kanabos. If Ubisoft copied much of the Shugoki into Yaya's fighting style, I feel they would have gone the distance.
Demon, because of it's modern connotations, doesn't work so well because Oni aren't all evil. That's why calling the Egyptian goddess Tawaret a demon is ill-fitting now because back then demon oy meant spirits or deities closer to the Earthly realm, instead of scary hellfire things that steal, torture, and/or eat souls. It's a surprising history, but also why I don't call most Yokai demons.
