Since I am back! I thought about bringing back my summaries as well, starting with archiving 2020 where I stopped doing these. I thought I wouldn’t be able to share anything during all these years, but I was wrong. I love being able to quickly look back on all the years to keep my thoughts organized and keep sort of a journal. I won’t be able to exactly write everything from all those years ago, but I at least can tell something short about that year and show some highlights.
2020 was like in 2019 a time I focused on being mindful and a parent. And I wasn’t just able to enjoy being a parent of 1, but I was also pregnant with my 2nd. This was also the year where Covid broke out, so from that point on life has been different for everyone. We stayed at home a lot and just focused on ourselves. My husband started working from home (and he still does that to this day <3) and could enjoy being a parent more as well.
This year I haven’t really focused on getting back to work yet, since I had a 1 year old running around and wanted to focus on just that and my pregnancy of course. I did miss creating sometimes, so I occasionally picked up some commission work. I did a YCH for the little furs here and I accepted some simple hat commissions. No Splatoon hats yet, my shop stayed closed (tbh at this point I wasn’t planning to ever open again). I also finished another Espeon Kigurumi for a friend. It didn’t take too much effort, since this was my second Espeon design.
I mostly just created for myself and for my children. I made a traditional drawing featuring my fursona Fiyala and with a little elephant in her arms that is my son. It’s based on a picture of us <3. For my son’s 2nd birthday I made a sugar free marzipan cake in a miffy theme and crafted some miffy cake toppers. So just simple things. I was still baking allot this year, mostly cookies with chocolate and nuts and yummy things like that. I really enjoyed baking ^_^
During my pregnancy I designed my daughter's birth announcement card. I illustrated a tree with golden falling leaves, winter flowers and a dark blue cover like a night sky. Her name was going to be Layla (which means Night, Beauty), she also was born during the night. My son was also born during the night and his name Ziri means Moonlight. Both names are Arabic (my husband is half Algerian).
We also started transforming my old atelier room into a beautiful baby room and moved my stuff to the game room. I had everything planned, yellow painted walls, fairy art and rotan furniture. A big comfy chair and just a warm and cozy room <3 I’ve sewn her curtains she is still using to this day, a cover for her diaper changes with cute little elephants and I have covered her baby crib with a beautiful lining with embroidered elephants. I also made some small things like baby bibs and such. I also started to make a cross stitch embroidery art piece with her name and birth date, but I wasn’t able to finish it on time. I would love to finish it someday though.
On December 10 it was finally the day (or better said night) where our beautiful daughter was born. I was planning to give birth in a bath, but my daughter was in a hurry, because as soon as she announced herself she was in my arms like 1,5 hours later. 2020 was a great year for us in a way we could be parents together. We enjoyed watching our little one grow and look forward to having a little sister joining our little family. I am grateful <3
