GRAFFURRY Scotiacon 2025 Art Auction Submissions
Here's a small project I have been working on for the past few months, just to test the waters and get back into traditional art.
GRAFFURRY
Graffurry aims to combine furry with graffiti artwork, media, and culture. Each drawing will feature an anthropomorphic animal representing an individual style, medium, or tool commonly used in graffiti.
While graffiti can sometimes be considered vandalism, other times it can be seen as works of art. Graffurry aims to capture the essence of this form of art by exploring intricate styles and mediums surrounding it:
YEEN
Which showcases the use of paintrollers (or Roll-up's) instead of spray paint, which is a style that uses emulsion paint along with paint rollers to produce big pieces in hard-to-reach places. Tags are a common occurrence, but a large panit bucket can go far, so you can expect to see huge names plastered at the edges of buildings.
PHOX
A mixture between a throwup and a full-colour piece, this style features the speed and fluidity of a throw-up, but incorporates significantly more intricate elements, such as refined linework, vibrant color schemes, and carefully placed highlights. These pieces often feature 3D effects, shadows, or colored outlines that enhance depth and dimension.
oh DEER
The classical throw-up (yes it's called that) is often characterized by rounded bubble letters, painted quickly (or ‘thrown-up’) on a surface.
Throw-ups contain two colors of paint – one for the fill and one for the outline, you can faintly see the zig-zag pattern fills that writers use to color in their letters quickly, using high-pressure spraypaint that is aimed to put out as much paint as possible.
Throw-ups are usually repeated over and over in various places, as it the most common form of graffiti.
