Mary is talking about the King Axiom's quests and expeditions. She doubted the "Plan" will work.
No Wolve have killed a Dragoon before, and her platoon is not the first to be on this quest.

"We are no Warriors, most of us haven't even use a sword before-" said Mary.
She is, but a simple miner, from a town called the Radiant.
"Let alone, trained for it" - Mary Continues.
She knows that there will not be a lot of her platoon left at the end of the quest. She hopes that she will be one of the lucky few to made it back.

"The King took noticed from every attempts he issued" - said Commander of Platoon
"It is in our duty to serve the country, for a better of our future", "Your parents and their parents before have served" - Commander of Platoon added

She knew there are rewards to be received, but for the time being, her own life is worth more.
She can only wait and see.
