NOW FOR INFO ON AEOLIAN:
Name: Aeolian Martin
Age: 18
Height: 5’6”
Brief Description: Aeolian is a trainer who abandoned her original Pokemon journey halfway through after suffering the traumatic loss of her mother. She is finally returning to training after a humbling time spent at home. She no longer has her youthful confidence nor a good idea of her goals. She feels ready to find her place in the world, and to rediscover herself.
Personality/Important Traits: Outside of battle she is somewhat unsure of herself. Inside of battle she usually hearkens back to her more confident trainer self and knows pretty well how to command her team. She is very lucky. No one knows why, but luck ALWAYS seems to favor her in any situation that might have otherwise been difficult.
History: Aeolian was an only child in a very strained marriage. Her mother, Professor Yew, was constantly out of the house researching for a book on the legends and myths of the Pokemon world. Her father, Joseph Martin, was crippled on his own Pokemon journey raised her almost fully alone. Aeolian developed quite an unpleasant personality both as a result of Joseph's reluctance to discipline (and perhaps alienate) his main link to his wife, and Aeolian's idealization of her often absent mother. Aeolian disrespected her father and revered her mother, who was a rather curt and emotionally distant person. Mirroring Yew, she showed an utter lack of respect for her father almost her entire childhood.
When she was 13, Aeolian left on her Pokemon journey with her starter, Turtwig. She had an arrogance rarely matched by other people, but her constant need to live up to her own high standards and her refusal to accept less than the best from any situation, made her an extremely successful trainer who had never accepted defeat. She probably would have lost quite a few times, if it weren't for her extremely opportune luck that seemed to kick in a pinch. Giving her critical hits, bizarre coincidences and other little aspects that shifted the scales for her. She collected over half of all the Sinnoh badges in only a few years. In that time she assembled much of her team and pushed herself extremely hard until she turned 16.
On her way to her 7th gym badge battle she got the call from her father, telling her that mother had died on the road and that her Pokemon had worked to return all her supplies and notes to him. Aeolian had never dealt with loss so profound, and she tried in vain to completely shove her feelings aside. She went to the gym battle and lost for the first time. The combined shock to her system left her very much shattered.
She immediately professed herself finished as a trainer and returned home to be with her father. They both had a great deal of grief that they dealt with poorly by staying in the house and basically enabling each other to wallow in depression. After almost an entire year of trying to make sense of it all, they decided that they should try to finish the book that Yew had died working on. They set out together even though both had grown a bit wary of the road. Yew's Pokemon wanted to help and so many of them joined up with Joseph to help him travel in order to finish the book.
Aeolian spent a year helping Joseph gather myths and writing new notes for the book. This time finally gave her the chance to really grow to respect and understand her father. She adopted a lot more of his calm demeanor but retained a lot of her inner determination. After realizing that gathering myths on the road with her father was not fulfilling her need to compete, she decided to start resuming her training. Joseph encouraged her to make a goal and see where it led her as long as they promised to keep in contact with each other more regularly. One of Yew's Pokemon, her Skarmory Bastille, seemed interested in joining Aeolian, and so, Joseph agreed to let her take it with her. She made it her goal to join a tournament and to see what she could accomplish after her long break from competitive battles.
Pokemon Currently on Her Team:
Torterra – “Crusher”
Gender: Male
Nature: Serious
Ability: Overgrowth
Moves: Earthquake
Leech Seed
Protect
Wood Hammer
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Aeolian's starter Pokemon, Crusher has always been very matter-of-fact. The two were close and pushed each other to always work hard when she started her journey. It was dedicated to becoming the head of a team for a Pokemon master. When Aeolian went home to face the loss of her mother, Crush was stoic and really didn't help her much with the grief due to a feeling of resentment that they'd been so distracted from their long-held goals. Though the pair has started to regain their bond now that she's begun to travel again, there is still a certain awkwardness between them.
Wartortle – “Shellshock”
Gender: Male
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Torrent
HOLD ITEM: Life Orb
Moves: Skull Bash
Ice Beam
Brick Break
Aqua Tail
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Aeolian conned a young trainer into trading her their starter Pokemon for a Staravia by telling them the Staravia was better because it was a higher level. Wartortle enjoyed Aeolian's no-holds barred battle-style, it loves a good fight but can be very reckless, thus the Life Orb suits it very well. Aeolian once told Shellshock that she really thought its white ears were cool. Because it desires to impress her it has chosen not to evolve.
Torkoal – “Sugarush”
Gender: Male
Nature: Jolly
Ability: White Smoke – Can't have lowered stats
Moves: Flame Charge
Sunny Day
Solar Beam
Rapid Spin
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Sugarush is a very hyper Pokemon, it is overzealous very often and loves zooming around the battlefield with Flame Charge and Rapid Spin. Aeolian caught him after he accidentally slammed into her while she was hiking up a mountain path. It has always been Aeolian's most cheerful Pokemon and it enjoys being out of its Pokeball whenever Aeolian gives him the chance.
Joltik – “Ardor”
Gender: Female
Nature: Bashful
Ability: Compoundeyes
Moves: Thunder Wave
Spider Web
Screech
Electronet
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: The first Pokemon Aeolian obtained after getting back on the road with her dad. He coaxed Joltik out of a tree. It took to an immediate liking to Aeolian and so he gave it to her. He gave Ardor its name, to show his love for his daughter. It enjoys dark places and likes to hide on Aeolian (in her hair and her bandanna most of the time). She doesn't use it often because Ardor doesn't really relish fighting, but it enjoys strategy and likes to use moves to incapacitate opponents rather than subdue them with pure power like most of Aeolian's team.
Tirtouga – “Riptide”
Gender: Male
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Solid Rock
HOLD ITEM: Dark Glasses
Moves: Shell Smash
Crunch
Smack Down
Aqua Jet
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Aeolian received the Cover fossil as a gift from her mother when she was about to start her Pokemon journey. Once she had the chance, she got it revived and loved it a great deal because of it's connection to her mom and her mothers love of fossils. Riptide was a bit of a “naughty” and sometimes downright scary Pokemon to others, but Aeolian just never saw that, because, like with her mother, she refused to notice these flaws. Riptide is somewhat malicious and acts evilly towards most people; it uses Crunch a lot to make use of its glasses. It is very fond of Aeolian though because she never seems to think it's anything but very cute and charming. She will never notice it doing anything out-of-the-ordinary.
Skarmory – “Bastille”
Gender: Female
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Keen Eye
HOLD ITEM: Focus Sash
Moves: Roar
Fly
Swift
Roost
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Bastille once belonged to her deceased mother. Bastille has always been a bit of the “motherly” one on a team. It filled that role in Yew's team and now spends much of her time fussing over Aeolian, who sees Bastille as the most powerful link she has left to her mother. Aeolian is relatively protective of Skarmory, but because it's an older Pokemon than the rest of her team, it's one of the most powerful.
Pokemon In Box:
Shuckle - “Rock”
Gender: Female
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Gluttony
Moves: Rest
Toxic
Substitute
Swagger
Short Personality Overview/Relationship to Aeolian: Shuckle is a Pokemon Aeolian tripped over when she was younger. She battled and caught Rock as soon as she saw it but when she tried as a child to use it in battle, she never had the patience for it. She named it “Rock” because it was always content to simply sit in the sun and relax. She moved it to her box, but now that she's older, she might find the ability to use a Pokemon like Shuckle isn't so hard as it once was.
