Baroque is an Island Fern breed of Sceptile, and was an absolute menace of a Starter Pokemon due to his stubborn and slightly violent nature at times. As well as just being high as a kite for the majority of his battles.

Johanna's fully grown now with her own family and living in the Johto region,
but Baroque, unfortunately, has to stay in Hoenn due to his strong addiction to the substance known as 'Magnevile Moss'.
It's a highly addictive plant very similar to the cannabis of our world, it's commonly found in Hoenn, but not so much in other regions as they prefer to keep it out of their territories (Another unfortunate 'reason' for why others look down on Hoenn and see it as a backwater region).

Baroque's addiction to the substance is far too strong, so he refuses to part with it, leading to him having zero entry to Johto.
He remains with Prof. Birch to this day, who offered to try and help him kick his habits (Still unsuccessful).

But luckily, Johanna is still able to see Baroque through video call, which she does often.
