Kipenzi, AKA Kip or Kipper, the African Spotted-Necked River Otter. He was my favorite otter at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They had river otters for about 2 years. Kip was the most inquisitive of the bunch, and craved human attention. He was hand raised in captivity and would cuddle and play with you if given the chance. However the Aquarium's policy is Protected Contact which means No Touching! He is a wild animal after all, and therefore not to be trusted.
Don't get me wrong, the Aquarium's Protected Contact policy is good and necessary for most of their animals. Most of them are wild born and retain their survival behaviors they learned out in the wild. Those animals prefer to keep to their own. They also don't do much on display. I'm saying that hand-raised animals tend to be more active and crave human contact. When you interact with them a bit, they are happier and look better on display too.
Sorry for the rant. I just meant to upload the pic :3
