The arcade cabinet was unoccupied, the light gun left hanging from its cable. Demo gameplay was presented on its screen, trying to attract players with flashy action as all variety of aliens and space pirates were blasted by lasers in a fantastical galactic station encounter. The screen cut to a princess, dolled up in a flowing pink dress, wielding her high-tech royal scepter as she stared out longingly for a worthy spacefaring hero to come save her. "Can you save me?" she asked, in an innocent, helpless tone, enticing any players who might pass by to put a few coins into the machine.
Princess Jessi's brain was abuzz with virtual data and helpful tips for her would-be saviors. She couldn't recall a life outside of the game, only that she desired oh so badly for someone to rescue her by reaching the end and claiming the top spot on the high score leaderboard...
