I did a redraw of a a Pokemon TCG Card as a study for my Color Theory class I'm taking. I didn't have the energy to create a whole new lineart and scene and think about all the framing and whatnot, so I just used this. I used to do it as a child when I was first learning how to draw stuff. Now, as an adult, I find it can be very relaxing to redraw stuff!
My three most recent lessons were about shading and saturation and Why Red Is Weird, and I tried to apply this in this redraw! I tried to do the shading the way I normally do, and then I learned about shading Reds with purple and orange, and it blew my mind how much deeper my drawing got. I'm definitely saving that for future artworks. For the background, it has a lot of different colors on the color wheel, so I tried to apply what I learned with lowering saturation to help make colors mesh more in one piece. That was harder than I thought it would be 😅 I did my best with it, the biggest part was the colors. I think I should have desaturated the purple shadow more instead of what I did. It looks a little out of place 😔
This is not meant to be a "I can draw this piece better than the original" or a "This is 100% original artwork". It's meant to be a study to improve my skills! I just wanted to show off what I've learned so far :]
