Sure, Fennrer froze for a moment, when he tried to kill Rashka, for he was blinded by her beauty. But he felt not that for her, what we would call love yet. He blushes more in a feeling of being ashamed and forced into submission. He knows, he has no chance of escape at the moment. Sure, he still thinks her to be beautiful and he allready feels respect for her, because she has shown her strong will, that bested him. Nontheless he is still conflicted, if he should feel more embarrassment and anger over his situation. (He is in danger to be handed over to someone, who will most likely execute him) Or if he should start to like her and feeling arroused.^^;

A word on word translation won´t help here, unfortunately.
"Schneid" is an old fashioned german term for courage.
It is hard to translate, but it would be like this: "He has let his courage being sold off of him". It means something like, he has been forced into submission, he doesn´t act all tough any more. Something like this.

I see. For what it’s worth, my attempted translation used ‘grit’ as a synonym for courage.
