Hey, it's fantasy and fiction. Of course you can switch someone's gender. People have used that trope to great effect in anime and elsewhere, though more as jokes/gimmics. occasionally to force character development in the individual, not necessarily with a mind toward that individual actually wanting to change genders permanently. Though I do remember Log Horizon where the ninja asked for the potion to change gender because while her avatar was male, she was actually female in the world they came from before they were brought to Log Horizon.
