I have ceased using my twitter by the way so please do not follow me there. TLDR I'm an American, I've disliked Musk since the 2010's and have been considering leaving ever since he took over and his recent behavior especially at the inauguration was enough to make me decide to leave the site.
Read the first volume of Mouse Guard, Fall 1152, and thought Kenzie was adorable so I decided to do a quick drawing of him. I know I don't usually get comments but if you do comment on this please keep it spoiler free as I really liked the first volume and don't want the rest of the series spoiled. This series though is super cute and fun, the pacing is a bit off in the first volume but thats mostly because the author tries to cover a fair bit of story stuff in a relatively short time period. The characters in the series are all super cute though so I'll probably end up doing another fan art for this series soon, maybe Sadie. As for the drawing I really wanted to focus more on experimenting with backgrounds and brushes because as you've probably noticed I've been on a bit of a backgrounds kick lately. For this one I originally intended to make the hills in the background be covered in trees but couldn't figure anything out for that which just means I'll have to try a bit harder next time. The sky I thought about leaving blank but didn't like the empty void look so I tried doing some clouds using my charcoal brush but didn't put too much effort into them instead opting for this minimalist idea of adding texture to the area to see if I could imply the existence of clouds without actually drawing any, it didn't work out but it did break up the sky so that it wasn't a barren void which is nice. For Kenzie himself I just did a quick sketch and my usual airbrush shading but I did think about redoing his shading this time using my charcoal brush instead, maybe next time. I will say it was interesting working on Kenzie here because the characters in Mouse Guard have a very distinctive style to them thats very different from my own so I tried to keep core elements of the character design (wedge shaped heads, 3 fingered hands, long almost pointed ear) but blend them into how I'd normally draw a character. I actually like this piece, it was a short 3 hour piece but the character came out pretty well and I had a blast playing around with my brushes like a child so I'll definitely try out the charcoal brush some more in future pieces.
Thank you for viewing my art
Have a wonderful day/night
