It was a good read, about a few tribes of people that live in the world of a carpet, with all the terrors of living in a jungle.
Mind, my favorite from him was the Long Earth Series. It's a set of 5 books(3 written after his passing), which deal with a kind of magical/scifi setting. To be brief, it's a universe where you can 'step' between alternate dimensions, either using devices, or even naturally as some people have the knack for it. Interestingly, in 10,000 Earths in either an 'upstream' or 'downstream' from our Earth(called Datum Earth), there are no people, no sapients.
Mind, when they find them they are called Elves, Orcs, and Trolls, and one of the books is called 'The Long War', just to show how well the meeting goes. As well as 'The First Person Singular', a kind of living protoplasmic blob that consumes life, absorbing the consciousness of things as it does so. It's moving down towards Datum Earth, and we're the first sentient life it finds too...which is an issue since it sees nothing wrong with literally stripping the Earths it encounters clean of all life to add to itself.
